We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our three week trip to Thailand. We travelled there from Hualamphong Station, and we struggled to get a taxi to take us there despite having instructions in Thai and a map. In the end we had to get a policeman to instruct a taxi driver to take us.

Once we arrived, we were very happy with our choice. The staff were always friendly and helpful and there was a pleasant restaurant area to sit outside and have breakfast in the morning or cocktails in the evening.

Our room was characterful, although the bathroom was a trifle small, but it was all very clean and had plenty of hot water - the basics we require! The TV had a couple of channels with English language programmes.

We made use of the roof terrace both nights we were there, as it offered lovely views from the Golden Mount to the Rama Bridge. We were there during the King's birthday celebrations and so were treated to a HUGE firework display two nights on the trot!

The location of the hotel is OK. It's not near any local transport links beyond buses (which are a bit of a challenge to work out), and as we steadfastedly avoided Tuk Tuk drivers in Bangkok we walked everywhere. We managed to cover quite a lot of miles on foot and also made use of the Khlong Saen Saeb water bus - not many tourists seem to use it, but it really is worth seeking out as it saves your feet!

We were within easy striking distance of Khao San Road and Thanon Rambuttri (the latter is a better bet for a meal), which were fine as far as they went, but not really a good impression of the real Bangkok. However, it would have been possible to easily walk to the Grand Palace sites if we'd not already been there earlier in the holiday.

We used the hotel taxi service to transfer to the Airport when we left: slightly hair-raising as the driver sped along the motorways at God-knows what speed, but we arrived in one piece and it cost less than we have paid using a Khao San tour operator.

Over all, a nice little hotel which is a good place to stay if you want to be near to the tourist hub of Khao San Road, but we preferred the location of the first hotel we'd statyed in on our trip (Bossotel) which was better connected to public transport and therefore other areas of the city.

This small hotel has good staff and a family run feel which made for a very relaxing stay. We originally booked for 5 nights before leaving Bangkok for a tour but decided to stay another night at Lamphu on returning.

The hotel is conveniently placed but hidden away from the commotion of central Bangkok. When we arrived in a taxi from the airport it took the driver a while to convince me he was dropping us at the right place as you cannot see the hotel easily from the road. As mentioned in other reviews, keep a map handy for taxi drivers.

We ate at the restaurant in the hotel several times and enjoyed the vegetarian options on the menu even if they were limited. Breakfast was good with a reasonable choice for all.

Free wifi internet access is available in the lobby and could be accessed from some rooms above, with a very week signal in our room on the 4th floor.

There is a laundry service in the hotel but if you have a lot of washing DIY coin operated machines are dotted around the canal side (turn right out of the hotel) which we found useful for 40 baht a wash.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and would strongly recommend it. Great location - just a short walk from khao san road. The hotel is lovely, with great breakfast! Pool is also a lovely touch for such a central hotel.

A friend and I were in Bangkok for the weekend - just two nights. She insisted that we stay at Lamphu Tree House as it's close to Khao San Road (5-7 minute walk) and the sights, but far enough away from the craziness of the backpackers haven to enjoy some peace and quiet.

She was right! Not only was the manager, but also all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Always greeted with smiles, one of the guys at the front desk even helped me carry my luggage to the busy street to catch a tuk-tuk so I could get to an Internet cafe when the hotel's Internet connection suddenly went down.

The rooms are simply, but clean and have all the basic necessary amenities. The pool is small, but nice to cool off. The roof is charming should there be an event or other reason to catch some sun. Breakfast is nice, not too many frills - American style - but adequate and a good value since it's included.

Make sure to bring the hotel map to show the taxi driver just in case. You have to walk about 50M from the road as there isn't front door drop-off, but a nice find indeed!
