Lamphu is in a great location if you're headed to the Grand Palace or would like to explore Khaosan Road. The second building is a 5 minute walk from the main hotel building but the rooms are clean, well maintained, and nicely decorated. If you have stayed at hotels in Thailand you may already know that the streets surrounding them may contain some interesting smells... people... and sights... but I assure you this place is safe and will place you in a good location. Good AC, friendly staff, free breakfast as well. If you're looking to do some exploring around the city you can use the GRAB ride share app if you have a phone with data (easy to use, cheap, and safe), or you could stay at a different hotel close to a subway line (MRT, BTS, or even then airport line).

We booked this hotel because of its good reviews and pictures.
We stayed in the 2nd building which is reached by walking 5 minutes down a canal-side dark alley. We had the smallest room which was literally just the bed and barely no room to put our backpacks on the floor (can’t see a room as small featured anywhere). The air con was directed straight at the bed head and just had the basic on/off feature - so during the night we either sweltered or had it straight at us. My husband tried to sleep with a tshirt over his head! There is no reception or hotel presence at the building so not sure what happens if there were to be a problem/emergency.
Breakfast was good - just grateful we were only there for 1 night passing through. We have stayed in several modern hotels in Bangkok and fancied a change. It wasn’t worth it.

We stayed a couple of nights as it's a great location for the large temples, Khosan Road, Markets and the Royal Palace.
We could walk to all of the locations mentioned above in about 10-15 mins and yet we were far enough away from noisy areas for it to be quiet and peaceful.
Difficult for taxi drivers to find as the hotel is along a walkway along the riverside so not onto the road. Interesting to see Komodo Dragons in and around the river ! They are bigger than I'd imagined and a great spot.
The staff at the hotel were particularly helpful and we arrived at 9:00 am after a long flight from the UK and check in was 14:00. However they stored our bags for us allowing us to walk around for a bit and we checked in at around 10:30 as they made an extra effort to have the room ready. Thanks as this was needed after such a long flight.
The room was okay , like others have commented a little tired but perfectly okay.
The location and helpful staff make this hotel for me.

Having stayed here last year we vowed to return! Just as we had left it... great staff, so helpful, fabulous location in the heart of banglamphu yet down a quiet canal so lovely and peaceful! Rooms fairly basic but adequate, food good, what is not to love!!!

We stayed for two nights before heading to Andaman. The room was clean and the bed firm but large. En suite shower.
Great breakfasts taken on canal-side shaded terrace or next to the small swimming pool. We thought this was very well located for the main attractions and very good value. It could do with a little update soon but we were happy with our stay. The reception staff did not seem to be aware that the palace was closed when we visited (we were told this by a local while on foot to the palace). It could have been a language issue.
I would still recommend this for the cost-conscious traveller.
