We stayed at Lamphu Tree house during our last few nights in Thailand. We were very impressed with the value of the rooms. We stayed in Building #2 on the 4th floor and had a beautiful room with a view of the canal. The rooms were clean and drinking water was provided. Although we didn't use the front desk for much, the staff was helpful and had our room available earlier than anticipated and held our bags for our final day since our flight didn't leave till midnight.

The neighborhood around Lamphu Tree House is unique and the street food is delicious. Breakfast at Lamphu was good, there were plenty of American-style choices, but we were a little disappointed that no Thai breakfast was available. The roselle juice upon arrival was a nice touch, too.

Pros:
- Canal view (and monitor lizards swimming by!)
- Great neighborhood and street food
- nice, clean, new rooms (with huge shower)
- they'll hold your bags
- the main building has a pool if you just want to hang out at the hotel

'Cons':
- Two separate buildings, although they are just a few minutes walk from each other, we stayed in building two and walked to breakfast/main building for any of our needs
- wifi in rooms didn't work, it only worked in the lobby

TIP:
Take a meter cab to/from the hotel to the airport. The front desk says they'll call one for 500 baht, but our meter cab only cost us 250 baht.

The front desk will also recommend a cooking school, but we did our own search and ended up booking one (that was just up the canal, 10 minutes walk) that was 1/3 the price (Ma-Sa-Man Thai Cooking School BKK) and it was fabulous!

Thanks for a great stay Lamphu Tree House!

We had a great time staying there, its clean and comfortable. Maybe the shower cabin its not so big, but you can manage. Very close to Koh San Rd, 5 minutes stroll. The staff was very nice and helpful. You feel like you staying with family. It is kind of hidden from the road, maybe thats why its not so loud. We had a very good rest there after whole day walking. The food is very good and very good value. I would recommend to try coctails, they are not shy with the amount of alcohol like at the other places.

We stayed at the Lamphu treehouse for 3 nights after three weeks of backpacking in cheap hotels and B&Bs, so wanted a little bit more luxury. The hotel is very nice, in a great quiet location but only 10 mins walk from Khao San Road. The pool is also great after a day's sightseeing round the hot, busy city. Food is excellent with a nice buffet breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful, they offered to write down directions to a few places in Thai for us and also helped organise a cookery course in Silom.

The only slight downside for us was that there were quite a few families with very young children while we were there, so the pool area and lobby was quite noisy with tamtrums every now and then!

Room tip: Some rooms are in a separate building a few mins walk away from the main hotel - we asked to be moved to the main hotel after the first night so we could be near the pool and this was no problem. Worth asking when you book if you can be put in the main building.

Very Nice Hotel, Away from the crowd and noisy roads.
Only dark point is the access to public transportation, have to Take the cab or walk to the "New City" but never spent more than 60bat... Reasonable.
If available, ask to Be in the second building, further from the "klong" that CAN Be a bit noisy in the night

Amidst a very busy and lively part of Bangkok and besides a canal where we even saw swimming a monitor lizard, Lamphu tree hotel is like a little, quiet oasis. The service was excellent and we can recommend the cocktails in the little garden. Put on some stuff on your skin against the numerous little mosquitos which by the way are not a great bother. We had rooms on the 3th food at the side of the swimming pool which we can recommend as the most quiet of the hotel. The rooms were not very big but everything you need is there. The beds are excellent and the airco as well

Walking to the hotel you will find yourself immediately amongst the Thai who live in the street and in very poor houses as well; but the mood is very friendly and relaxed. Ko Sang road is about 15 minutes walk. There are some excellent (street)restaurants which are to be found in an area if you walk westwards along the canal and turn right after about 5 minutes walk.
