This area was fun to walk around and explore. Lots of shops and places to eat. Not quite as crowded as other locations. We stopped for lunch here and people-watched. One of our favorite stops on the trip.

Koh San road is a typical busy 'strip'. Lots of clothes and souvenirs to buy as well as food. Has some nice places to eat if you don't want to try streetfood but after 10pm it gets loud because of the loud music and proppers competing to be visited.

We are all in our twenties and love love love to go out but this place is pretty disgusting to be honest. It is full of annoying crazy drunken tourists who are behaving like they have been let off the leash. That combined with unpleasant music, a lot of weird smells and locals harassing you to buy something is a very bas recipe.

Khao San Road is famous for being a backpackers' hangout with a retro 60's hippy feel. But it is definitely worth an afternoon/night stop by to watch the folks go by as you sip a beer in one of the numerous open-air sidewalk-front bars. A major happening here that you may like or want to avoid is night time during Songkran - it will be mobbed - loud music - and water, water, water :-) . By the way, you can get here easily by taking the Chao Phaya ferries, but they stop running in the early evening, so you may end up taking a taxi home or at least to the BTS station. Also note the Victory Monument is nearby and it is frequently the scene of political protests.

Seems to be down graded and very dirty

Not as exciting as when I was a back packer but that might be my age

Better places to visits and shop or hang out these days
