First time back in Bangkok after 35 years. What a change.

Our travel agent selected this hotel for us based on our desire to be close to good shopping districts. This Hotel couldn't have been better placed for that purpose, being surrounded by a vast variety of markets and stalls.
Front office staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful.
What let this property down is the need for a complete overhaul with respect to decor and house-keeping management. Rooms and common areas are worn and dingy and dirty. We were on a non-smoking floor by request, but obviously the restriction on smoking does not extend to housekeeping staff who spent most of their days sitting in rooms they were supposed to be servicing, watching TV and smoking (in the corridors). The result was that the common areas within the hotel smelled disgusting.
The other factor that particularly incensed me was the EXTRA CHARGE for using wi-fi. The management require a payment of $20 a day to provide wi-fi access where most other hotels these days provide this free of charge as an included service. This alone will make me seek a different hotel on my next visit to Bangkok.
The restaurants are VERY average in quality and very expensive. I suggest eating elsewhere. Other hotel services (laundry,mini-bar etc) are all too expensive.
Overall I would would only use this hotel again as a last resort, and recommend you look elsewhere.

Dear Luigi D,

Thank you for taking the time to review Indra Regent Hotel. We express sincere apologies for any discomfort that may have arisen from your experience with our non-smoking floor. Rest assured your review has been brought to the attention of housekeeping department with reprimand and written warning given to specific staff.

As for pricing, our WiFi, restaurant, and other hotel services are priced similar to hotels of the same category. WiFi charge of THB 600 per 24 hours can be used over the entire period of stay and not limited to one time usage, therefore per hour charge is just B 25. For guests requiring a short amount of time on the internet, we suggest becoming a Facebook fan of Indra Regent Hotel which allows complimentary internet usage at our Business Center.

We hope to have a chance to show you our improvement on your next visit to Bangkok.

Sincerely Yours,
Udom Vanichkajorn
General Manager

We arrived in Bangkok at 6am and were driven into the city. We asked our taxi driver to take us to a good hotel, centrally located that would rent us a room until the evening when our flight took us on to Australia. He could not have found us a hotel any better for this purpose. The location was great - right in the middle of some great shopping markets for food, clothes and leather goods. The hotel were happy to give us a room until 7pm and after a few hours sleep and a curious breakfast in the hotel restaurant we were ready to explore. The reception desk organised us a guide with a car and we set off to explore the temples etc. After about the 4th one, they all seemed to blend into each other but the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Wat Pho (Temple of the reclining Buddha) were particularly stunning. This hotel served its purpose for us and I would stay here again if I was visiting Bangkok once more.

The hotel was very old, the food was average and expensive, but you can't put a price on location!! It was surrounded by the best shopping markets and malls. We didn't have to travel anywhere and there was an abundance of shopping opportunities that were safe. A definite must if you have a quick day or two to shop in!

This was our 1st visit to the Indra Regent Bangkok. Yes the hotel is dated and the rooms are older but they are always clean.front. You can not get a better location. There are markets all around the hotel, and even The shopping centre below the hotel is excellent if you dont want to go too far as well. MBK in walking distance or by tuk tuk ride 100 Overall a good place to stay for a few nights only if your not going to spend much time in your room, but great for shopping.
