Stayed in this hotel on 15 June. Booked direct wit hthe hotel. Was allocated a room in Tower 3 - about 150m from the main reception in Tower 1. From outside and in the lobby - the property looked great. Getting into the lift was the first sign of things to come. Lift not up to the same standard as the lobby. Entering the hallway of the 3rd floor - I thought I could be wrong. In front of my door was a well-worn (almost dangerous) patch of carpet. Investigation showed it was worn because of a hole/dip in the floor below. The room was very small. Then I was meant to have a room with 2 beds - however it only had 1 bed. Then I notice a full-length crack in the closet mirror - which has been repaired with a strip of Scotch tape!. The bathroom was so small - you had to decide before entering if you wanted to front in or back in to do your business!!! Bath/shower only had a curtain - of which the bottom had evidence of mould - as well mould in the grouting arounf the cubicle. Cleanliness of the bathroom not so good. Then I had problems with the free internet. it took me 3 trips to reception in Tower 1 (almost a kilometre bach-and forth) to find out what the problem was. Seems it was a technical issue - and I was offered to use the business centre in Tower 1. No thanks. I booked yr hotel because you offered free wifi and LAN access in the rooms - which wasn't so in my case. While I do not know the standard of accommodation in Tower 1 & 2 - I certainly would not recommend the rooms in Tower 3 if they are all the same as the one I had. There's so many other choices for hotels in Bangkok - I just happened to make the wrong choice with this one.

Room Tip: Don't book a room in Tower 3!

I have stayed in the Grand President during my trips to BKK for many years and I still cannot fault the value for money. The range of accommodation in the three towers is from reasonable low cost to apartment style. The cost usually includes breakfast which is one of the best range of food varieties I have experienced. The three towers all have their own swimming pools/gyms.
The hotel is ideally located in Soi 11 close to the entertainment area but quietly removed. The food outlets in Soi 11 range from "street food" to "upmarket restaurants".
The freeway to the airport is close by making it a usual 30min/350 baht trip.
This is a good mid range hotel that I can recommend.
The only point to watch is that sometimes non smoking rooms are not available.

I've stayed in this hotel many times, but this time I've left early. I saw staff asking for security fees from visitors and that staff sold drugs that were delivered directly to a hotel room. I booked a big expensive room and first found glass on the floor around the bed, hair and food rests on the sofa and rug and sauce sprinkles all over the kitchen floor... that was not all... Further, I had a privilege card given to me by the hotel that offers discounts (10%) to dental smile and a hospital. When I asked the staff to call me a taxi to send me there, the staff sent me to dental spa and there was no discount... again ridiculous!!! Hospital also did not give the discount as promised by the hotel. The hotel did not fix anything and did not reimbursed me. The last day they've asked me to stay around to talk to the police about what I've witnesses, but charged me the full fee for the day. When I told them that I disagreed with their bill, they did not want to change it and only asked when I would come back... What a bunch of [--]... I will never ever return to this hotel...

Room Tip: better go to another hotel

Grand president is good, but it was better . The rooms at certain points needs minor touches .the staffs at the entrance has lost the vibe I saw last year.is it because of lesser job satisfaction than earlier ? Overall the place is worth the penny .
