I've stayed in many many hotels ... and The Sukhothai will have to rate as one of the best hotels in the world (if not the best)!

The service is simply faultless. Every single contact with the staff at The Sukhothai is friendly, warm, helpful.

The hotel building and extensive gardens and grounds are beautiful. The swimming pool is great, as is the gym.

A totally enjoyable stay.

If you would like a bit of an oasis in Bangkok- this hotel provides it. Stunning, elegant pool. Wonderful service. the rooms are terrific. We opted for the mercedes transport as we arrived late and appreciated that we did it on the entre, but for all other trips to the airport a 300 baht taxi is fine. The most spectacular thing is that our original flight was cancelled so threw off our whole itenerary. The concierge at Sukhothai rebooked our bangkok air flights for us as we were in the air. It was just a charmed and charming experience.

We have stayed in this hotel now on two occasions and both times over the Xmas/New Year period.....so, of course, the hotel is full and very busy. You would, therefore, understand if the service was a little bit slower but it isn't. All staff go out of their way to be as friendly and efficient as humanly possible, the breakfasts are a feast, rooms clean and large and the amenities great. For a city hotel it is like being in a little oasis of calm. The pool area does get packed at that time of year however so if you are planning on a relaxing day try to get there early. Pool boys are run off their feet and cope wonderfully. The Thai restaurant is fantastic and we ate there a lot....yes a little pricey but well worth it. We have just booked for next Xmas......so hopefully that says it all. Oh and the beds are the best ever!

We arrived at the Sukhothai late on a Monday evening, The very tired staff members appeared to be waiting for us and escorted us to our cool, prepared room. We were informed of the various amenities of our room from the heated toilet seat (which we loved!) to the lovely garden view on a high floor which we requested. There was fresh fruit and chocolates left in our room every day. We had a large suite for a very reasonable price. I think it helped that we wanted a garden view as most people probably want a pool view which the hotel can provide. The Sukhothai has a very large swimming pool which is heavenly after a day of exploring in hot, steamy Bangkok. Unfortunately the pool closes at 8 PM. So we were unable to enjoy a drink by the pool very often although they let us swim after 8 as we were quiet and respectful of the other guest. The hotel also has a tennis court if you like to hit the ball. We had room service several nights and the food was slightly above average for room service. However, I found it very expensive as food in Bangkok is NOT expensive even in the some of the best hotels. Now I need to tell you the biggest problem with this overall very good hotel. It is a long haul to the sky train. Several time we waited more then twenty minutes with the bellman/porter for a cab. My suggestion to the hotel is to provide a free tuktuk to the "central" pier or the sky train for drop off at least. Riding the river ferries is a wonderful experience and is as much a part of the Bangkok experience as eating the street food.

We stayed four nights at the Sukhothai Bangkok in December 2012. It was one of the best hotel experiences we have had in a long time. The rooms were contemporary Asian design with teak floors, wonderful lighting, rain shower and soaking tub, in a standard room. The nice touches such as chocolate and fruit waiting for you in the evening was a nice touch. The pool and gym were also very nice and never crowded.
