I was reluctant but my partner convinced me. He was on long business trip and wanted to spend time together without having to take a trip somewhere. So we decided to do a "stay-cation" in a local hotel in Bangkok.
The newly opened Okura Prestige is the new kid on the block and so we made reservations for the weekend. Reservations were handled promptly and efficiently.
On our arrival in the lower lobby you are greeting by a very pleasant scent (could be the Okura signature scent) and enthusiastic porters who would jump at your every movement to assist you. We had to ride the elevator up to the 24th floor for check-in and we were greeted by very pleasant and cheerful check-in staff. The 24th floor consist of the Reception, a Bar, an all day dining restaurant called Up & Above and of course Yamazato their signature Japanese Restaurant. The high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows gave you a sense of spaciousness and a breathtaking view of Ploenchit, Wireless Road and beyond. The tone of colors for the Okura are very earthy, with shades of brown, green, metallic silver and black with a splash of white.
Our room was on the 26th floor, elevator access to guest rooms is separate from the one that comes from the lower lobby. The room is spacious, well appointed and plush. Products hardware and finish extremely superior and high quality. Bathroom amenity...I was reluctant but my partner convinced me. Dining experience at the Up & Above was also a wonderful experience. We had breakfast and a dinner there. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Food was also of very high quality. There are outdoor seating for drinks or dining as well.
