Dinner Cruise by Grand Pearl in Bangkok
Reviewed 29 January 2018

After visiting Ayutthaya we had lunch on the Grand Pearl River boat while we cruised back down the Chao Phraya river into the centre of Bangkok. The variety of food was good, but not particularly Thai. The boat was full, so there was a bit of a queue at the buffet. A variety of drinks were available. Cannot comment on the price as it was included in our day tour. After lunch we went up on the sundeck to see the views better.
We always find that a river cruise through a city gives you a different view of the place, so we enjoyed seeing Bangkok from the river boat.
We boarded the boat at 1.15pm and disembarked at 3.45pm.

The Chinese counter staff is so rude and impolite. Dinner on the cruise is expensive. I don't understand why the cruise company hires this kind of staff. I think she will destroy many tourists' beautiful nights.

After exploring the ruins of Ayutthaya, we boarded our pre-booked 'Grand Pearl Cruise' to sail on the glorious Chao Phraya river. It was a beautiful journey from Ayutthaya to Bangkok. The cruise was super luxurious with comfortable seats. There was buffet lunch served onboard with a choice of western and oriental cuisines. Tea, coffee and biscuits were also available after the lunch. The lower desk where the lunch was served was air-conditioned. There was an open air upper deck where you can enjoy the sea breeze and click photographs with the major landmarks of the city. These landmarks include - the colourful Royal Barges House, Wat Arun - Temple of Dawn, Wat Pho - Reclining Buddha Temple, Wat Phra Kaew - Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Santa Cruz and Holy Rosary churches and many more. The commentator explained the history and significance of these landmarks. The only drawback we found here was that the commentator wasn't very clear and audible. It was difficult to understand the commentary. Rest everything was great about the cruise.

Really enjoyed arriving back to Bangkok on the boat after our visit to Ayutthaya. There were such beautiful views of the city and water-side atmosphere but the food was quite dreadful! All the dishes were cold or luke warm at best and drinks very expensive.

You can book these trips thru Internet or local travel agency, price includes pick-up return, cruise and great buffet . Drinks are separate, They also have corkage (300 Baht to open any bottle of wine you bring), the ship has multiple decks so you can dine and watch the scenery from the open air or airconditioned. Magnificent view gliding pass the lit up buildings and monuments
