We arrived at Bangkok excited to spend NYE in the Sukhumvit area. When we arrived for check in, the hotel said that they gave away our room! This, despite me making the reservation months in advance.

They said they would put us up in another hotel, which was in the middle of nowhere. We had no other options given that it was NYE. The other hotel was 20 minutes away in a completely different neighborhood. We had to walk down a dark street with no sidewalk for 15 minutes just to get to a somewhat populated road...so we felt both unsafe and like we were about to get hit by a car.

What peeves me the most is that the manager at Amora was rude and completely dismissed our concerns and frustrations. I told her that we wanted to stay there on NYE specifically because of the location. Her response? That the new hotel was only 10 minutes walk to the BTS station. She was not apologetic at all. Her idea of "making good" with us was paying for the taxi to the new hotel! Seriously? So if I hadn't complained / argued about it, she would've expected us to pay our own way?

Look I'm sure the Amora has great facilities. The reviews and pictures on this site are part of the reason why we booked it. But do you really want to leave a key component of your dream vacation in Thailand to a place that's willing to just give away your room, not tell you in advance, and not even seem apologetic?

Service: 4/5 -

Friendly staff.

Value: 4/5 -

Reasonable value for money. It was nice to have a gym and a pool on the top floor, and the room sizes were decent.

Cleanliness: 5/5 -

Very clean.

Amenities: 3/5 -

Wifi was up there with THE WORST I have had during my travels. Slow to the point that you couldn’t send a message on Whatapp, and I had to constantly go downstairs to reconnect for some reason.

The room was a little poorly maintained, but having a bath in the bathroom was nice. The A/C was a bit loud on the lowest setting.

Breakfast was reasonable - nothing to shout about.

Decent location - the room was very quiet and there were plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

Hotel is located in nice area between Asoke and Phromphong Bts station , aprox 10 min walking distance to both sttions. Which means close to Emquartier shopping mall and Terminal 21. Hotel is small with nice and clean rooms. There is pool as well, for reasonable price i got room with breakfast. Rooms have deposit safe too. In my opinion location is main feature for this hotel. On departure i got organized taxi pick up from hotel to airport for 500 tbht.

Good cheap hotel with small swimming pool on roof. We stayed 2 nights and would stay again because its clean tidy and nice location near Sukhumvit main road and the BTS station of Phrom Phong. Difficult to beat for this price.
