The train are delayed. Not exactly depart on the time written on the ticket. I bought 3rd class train ticket to Ayutthaya and its late for more than 30minutes.
Overall its ok. Because even without AC, I got the wind from open windows and can experience the other side of Thailand transportation.

It is a beautifully designed building but a letting messy inside that to some degree spoils the grandeur. Try to visit in the afternoon on the days that the FABOULOUS ORIENT EXPRESS TRAIN IS IN TOWN - you will one of the worlds finest luxury trains

This is a blast from the past, from probably a decade or so before I was born. These trains are so awesome! I've only taken the train here once, but I visit many times. This is way more fun than Chinatown, so if you're ever here, then definitely visit this train station. There are so many cool trains, that it's awesome for taking pictures. Of course, you can ride the trains, too, and they're only a few baht for hours of great train rides. The trains are older, and in various states of disrepair, depending on the train, but that only adds to their charm. I recommend showing up here without a destination in mind, and catching the train that's about to leave, as otherwise you'll probably be waiting a long time. They have a small food court and a lot of different shops here, that makes the wait not too bad. When you leave, crossing the street is pretty treacherous, so I recommend going under the street via the subway exit.
