Spent Sunday morning at Mandarin Oriental Spa, Bangkok.
Hotel is on the river so started with a morning coffee enjoying the view before going across the river to the day spa facility, which is set on grounds with beautiful garden.
I recommend a one and a half hour Thai massage , but allow at least 2 hours to enjoy the refreshments afterwards.
Would definitely do again!

Thank Maria M

Perhaps one of the first spa in bangkok. It 's really beautiful, passing the historic colonial-style hotel to get there by taking a small hotel's ferry across the Chao pra river ,fantastic and romantic experience. Even the spa is in colonial style and truly luxurious, the quality of the massage is excellent maybe the price is a bit expensive but it is worth going there at least once.

We went to the spa for the jet lag massage based upon the recommendation in a guide book and were blown away by the wonderful staff and luxurious spa experience! This award winning spa met all of our expectations and then some ! It is a beautiful hotel and we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch at their restaurant on the river. Even the boat ride to the spa was scenic and enjoyable!

I had a swedish massage for 1 and a half hours. The masseuse was nice and she focused on some of the knots in my upper back, but, although the massage was nice, it was nothing too special. The massage room is lovely and extensive with a safe (which was unfortunately broken), shower, bathroom, and an elevated platform with a mattress for the massage. There is a relaxing room for after your massage which is quite nice. Overall, not too special but nice to relax. Also, make sure to book your treatment at the spa a day in advance.

I shall preface this review by saying that the Peninsula Spa was fully booked, hence the need to go next door today.

The Oriental Spa is providing no more than any middle-of-the road establishment in this city of spas is offering, except with a price tag that rides on the Mandarin Oriental name.

The spa was below par. Took a two and a half hour package including a scrub and a Balinese massage. The therapist needs to learn that a scrub is not just a noun but also a verb. Just applying a scrub does not achieve exfoliation.

The massage was professional but far from intuitive. In no sense was the therapist able to "read" the body to hone in on areas that needed more work. There were inconsistencies between the techniques applied to both sides of the body, pressure was uneven and strokes seemed random.

The general impression left by the therapy and the environment was one of comfort but far from being pampered. You are paying for luxury but the experience is very run of the mill.

To add insult to a quite nondescript spa experience, having spent over US$400 at the Oriental Spa, the Mandarin Oriental boat refused me the 30-second ride back to the Peninsula.

Let's just say, after this experience neither the Mandarin Oriental nor their spa will be getting my patronage again.
