I know when I tell you staying at a place that costs more will 1. deliver a better experience and 2 end up costing the same amount, you'll only believe half of that. But they're both true, especially if you're an SPG member. Our stay was flawless. Went with a colleague before a conference. Used points. I'm a platinum member. Leveraged the concierge to book a car from the airport due to late arrivals. This was my first time at a St Regis. Overwhelmingly pleasant and helpful staff.
Free wonderful delivered coffee in china cups not paper ones - with little cookies that change every day. Is that worth changing where you stay, no but its not just one thing here. It's a lot of them. Also a wee bit of laundry, pressing and shoe shine. ---So you look happy, alert and sharply dressed. Yes, you have a butler but it's more just about the immediacy of service.
Again, if you're a status member, choose breakfast not points. (I wish I could underline this). There is no comparison. Also avail yourself of the afternoon canapes and cocktails. ---especially the mocktails that give you magnificent fruity options
View from the room was nice. And about that room. It was funny, when I said to my friend it's not the largest room...then I realized I was sitting on a couch eating fruit from a platter on my coffee table. It was plenty large, and quiet. ---One teensy complaint...do something about that bathroom lighting. its dreadful.
Concierges were accommodating - booked us a car for the day (really a much better option than trying to navigate and do this all yourself. seriously, just spend the 100 bucks. much easier) Amy was especially helpful.
Even if you get there via an Uber, take their transport on the way out. Upon checking out, Sarin was lovely, asked if I needed anything more before they put me in the car. And, at the end, there was X at the airport, who was a blessing and Godsend and simply amazing - as he stood in the line while I ran a few last minute errands (buy book, finish my water, check my messages). There are a lot of us who would save points to get another night. I have left those days behind. The St. Regis Bangkok team convinced me that I'd rather stay well, exceptionally well.
