“A splendid hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

A splendid hotel with the reception area in a traditional Thai house. The rooms are in a recently-built and well-designed block with imaginative and elegant furnishings. The beds are extremely comfortable with fine bed linen and sleep quality could not be bettered. The bathrooms are tiled and the bedrooms have teakwood flooring of high quality. The breakfast is plentiful and there is a large choice from the menu. David Lees is an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble; the upmarket restaurant has vegetarian options, and the deserts in particular are homemade and delicious. The fast and free wifi is a bonus. On the minus side, it is a little far from the MTR (15 minutes walk) and small flying insects were a problem at the restaurant during the evening meals and for late breakfasts.

I spent 3 nights here, starting to get over jetlag. It is a garden oasis in the city. Large comfortable room, spa-like bathroom. Delicious breakfasts included; tasty lunches and dinners. Attached spa for massages. Easy pick up service from the airport - not cheap but at midnight, well worth the cost. Friendly staff, from the night clerk to the owner. Helped me track down missing suitcases. Easy walk to the SkyTrain and "sky walk" facilities, so easy for getting to the main sights. Loved it and count on going back.

I loved that place from the first moment I entered. The owner couple is extreamly nice and keeps the place well maintained. Nothing is missing here. Ins\cent burners, daily newspaper, very comfy bathrobe, fruits complimentary....
The nice touch is that they host also spiritual leaders from the budda religion which lets you seng if you have the chance to talk to them or do a seminar....
Great Job

Ariyasomvilla is a charming boutique hotel in the centre of Bangkok. There are 24 luxurious rooms, each decorated in traditional Thai style with all the modern amenities. The hotel has the feeling of the film ‘A Room with a View’, it’s intimate and guests feel immediately at home, roaming around the reception areas which flow one into another, reception, indoor dining (which has a colonial feel with full length plantation shutters and wooden floor), outdoor dining by the swimming pool. There’s a serenity about the whole hotel which might have something to do with the beautiful shrine to Ganesh in the entrance, the Spirit Houses, the massage sala which is in the style of an old Thai rice store. The hotel has a meditation room where small groups gather to meditate from time to time. The Spirit of Ariyasomvilla is nurturing amidst the bustle of city life. The staff are charming and helpful. The food is delicious. You definitely feel you’re in South East Asia with the sound of the Klong behind the hotel, it’s almost of another era with all the mod cons.

Awesome - look no further. Located in a back alley but quite central and walking distance to transport. Owned by a very friendly northern British bloke who makes his own cakes and is a charming host. Would not hesitate to visit again.
