“A mission to find, but worth it for the money”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

It’s amazingly difficult to find from the nearby station if you haven't been before. Either go equipped with plenty of clear maps, or pay the 50baht or so and get a tuktuk to take you... although make sure you have the full address as no-one seems to have heard of the place.

It's a nice modern hotel, which is a bargain for the price (paid £23 p/n inc. b/fast). Upon arrival you are given a voucher for a free welcome drink, which is a nice touch, and the fruit punch cooled us down after our trek trying to find the place! Our standard room was compact, with a queen bed but very tight on space. My brother paid a little extra and got a bigger room with king sized bed and looked worth the extra couple of pounds.

Rooms are quiet, the bed was comfortable, and there is a modern bathroom with good shower. There is a small bar/restaurant which is keenly priced and serves tasty food, the yellow curry and tuna sandwich being our favourites.

Once you get your bearings, the hotel is actually in a good location, 5 minutes walk to the skytrain station or the direct train to the airport. Also nearby is Coco Walk, a nice lively area with bars which seem favoured by the locals. All things considered I would recommend the BW, and would definitely stay there again if in Bangkok.

Room Tip: Coyote bar (two in Bangkok) is a truly great place serving tasty Mexican food and a menu of 75 marga...

Location is a bit off the beaten track, albeit geographically close to Phaya Thai airport express station. Took a metered taxi from station to hotel for 37 baht. Hotel is modern, quiet, clean with good facilities, comfortable room and friendly staff. Good breakfast to set you up for the day. Bell boy very helpful for local information and driving you in hotel tuk tuk to main road locations. After that just a short walk to nearest sky train station - Ratchathewi - for exploring the city, eg Jim Thompson house + access to river for water taxis and visiting temples, or a long tail boat along the canals. Opposite the hotel on the other side of the railway line is Suan Phakkad Palace which is well worth a visit, basically a museum in various buildings within a pleasant landscape - check with bell boy for best way to get there. Good shopping/markets and a variety of well priced eating establishments available within a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. Did eat in the hotel restaurant for one evening, lacked atmosphere but the meal was fine. At back of the hotel is a small supermarket - very handy for numerous items, snacks and drinks (for room fridge) etc. Overall, good value short stay base for exploring/visiting Bangkok.

Stayed in this hotel for 4D3N. Took us some time to find the hotel from Phaya Thai station (Airport Rail Link station). According to the hotel staff, there's no shortcut to the station so be prepared to lug your luggages for about 15min at least to locate the hotel. Recommend to take a tuk tuk or taxi from the station in. If going by meter, likely will cost less than 50baht.

Hotel room is clean and new. There's even multi-plug socket on the dressing table which saved me the hassle of plugging in my international travel adapter. We ended up with a room on a smoking floor as the one on the non-smoking floor was not ready when we checked in. Surprinsingly, the room didn't smell of smoke. Wi-fi signal is great in the rooms and cafe/lobby. There's also a computer in the lobby for guests to use. There's complimentary tuk tuk service to the main road (soi 15) and Pratunam Market/Baiyoke which makes it more convenient to get in and out of the hotel.

However, the towels and floor mats seem to have been either used umpteen times or washing machine is too strong that sides may be torn. One bad experience during our stay was about the missing 2 complimentary bottled water in our room. After we came back from a half day tour on our 3rd day, we realised that our room did not have 2 complimentary bottled water so we informed the front desk on our way out again. The front desk staff then communicated with Housekeeping, who insisted he/she placed 2 bottles in our room but we couldn't find it!! She even suggested we go with Housekeeping to check together! We couldn't be bothered as bottled water only costs less than 10baht outside!! Why would we even bother to try and get more?! When we came back at night, there still wasn't any bottled water!! In order to attract more guests, they should've just given them to us!

Just a note, book the hotel massage early (preferably on the day you arrive) as it's fully booked pretty fast. Didn't get to try the massage but there are a few along Soi 15. Number One is GREAT!

This a great place to stay on a short term basis (2 or 3 days) but not long term. long term stay can get boring and the quality of the breakfast meal gets worst the longer you stay. Some days the food is cold and the quality is poor.

The staff are excellent and very helpful. The two female receptionists (Miss Benjama Fern & Miss Pornthip) speak English very well and most helpful at all times. The cleaning staff are the best and the bellboy is very, very helpful in taking you places that Tuk Tuk can go. By law the Tuk Tuk is only allowed to travel to the main road.

I would recommend this hotel because of price, staff and management. I do not recommend the quality of the food after a long term stay.

Room Tip: Floors 6 thru 8 for quietness, bot no good view.
