This is a cool place, nicely designed, and tucked away behind other buildings. It is literally a charming old house with outdoor and indoor seating options and a lovely garden. The staff are very good; friendly, capable, and attentive. The "fusion" items are the most interesting on the menu. The "momos" are exceptional and the food is good. Good drink list also. Take time to explore the entire premises. On a recent cold night the outdoor seating came complete with blankets and modern heaters which made it quite cozy for small groups of friends and romantic for couples.

We were around the area and trying to decide where to have late lunch and Hubby thought of this place and also for us to meet a friend that we haven't seen for long (talking about multitasking). Since we are famished we ordered the quickest appetizer, I ordered for pork skewers and Hubby opted for a chicken item. The skewers did not disappoint and I should know, I was raised and born in a family of carnivores (sorry to exaggerate) not a single member in the family is vegetarian. For the main course I had the beef with potato wedges and some veggies on the side. Loved every bite of it, The quality and the taste is something that you would not mind paying extra for. The ambiance is just perfect for the location if you want some privacy while having your drinks and your fine meal. This is the place for you. The menu looks very tempting I will definitely come back to try the rest.

Came here 2 nights in a row due to laziness and proximity of hotel. Outside seating area is just perfect, very secluded and quite romantic ( no one around both nights as it is getting a bit chilly at night).
Food is ok, but mains menu is pretty basic and not too inspiring soccer had pretty much all the appetizers on the menu. Recommended: grilled shrimp, the revised momos, the pesto chicken salad and the mushroom soup.

It took me two evenings to spot this place in Darbar Marg. On the first evening, after finding this place online, I took a walk across the street twice, asked a few locals and no one could help in spotting this and I ended up at eating an average place.
Next evening, I was determined to find this place and walked the street again, this time a brisk walk and voila, here it was where I had missed it on Main Street of Darbar Marg Well, the blame can be apportioned to lack of sign board facing the pedestrian walk, else there is a good old white sign board. It reads the name and that it is a garden restaurant, which it is.
The ambience is nice and well lit. It is not which you would miss in the city unless you are vegetarian like me. It has very few vegetarian options. The food portions are fine and quality good. There is sitting facility indoor as well.
Prices are reasonable. Go hear if you enjoy your drinks and if you are not a vegetarian. I would have given it 4 but I am a vegetarian.

Went for a business dinner with business associates. The Old House is just a couple hundred meters from the Yak and Yeti Hotel and Annapurna Hotel, hidden away from the noisy streets of Kathmandu. The food was very good, nicely cooked and presented, though not spectacular in its creation. The cuisine is mainly western, with little Nepali influences.
