Nice rooms, straightforward service, beautiful tidy gardens where you can relax after the hubbub of Kathmandu. The garden is full of statues, plants and birds. Very nice coffee shop attached to it too.

Very good hotel on the edge of Thamel. A quiet haven( except for nocturnal barking dogs) . Lovely atmosphere and feel. Great way to get a start in Kathmandu and nice to return to it at the end of our tour. Service excellent.

I was here with friends in late season 2016.
What a beautiful place almost in the heart of Thamel and yet so quiet.
The garden, the antiques, the service and informal atmosphere made me want to come again. And next month I really can come back!
So much looking forward to being here once more.

The International is an idyllic place to stay. It is right on the outskirts of Thamel which means you can walk there in 2 minutes, but it is much quieter than being in the centre!

The rooms are big, clean and traditional. Nice hot showers, beds are slightly hard, but all in all you get a good nights sleep.

The International has a lovely garden that you can go relax, unwind and eat in. As well as a reception area that is good to meet others in your group, or sit and do some work. Wifi can be hit and miss - but I think this is the case in most of Nepal!

Breakfast is usually included in the price and there is a good selection.

Staff are always really friendly and happy.

And they have pussy cats in the gardens - what more could you want?!

We were happy we stayed at the International Guest House. Great location, just 1/2 block from Thamel, and within walking of many restaurants, shops and sites. It even has a beautiful garden. The whole place, including the rooms, is adorned with carvings and artwork - you definitely know you are not in a Holiday Inn, or other plastic hotel that could be anywhere. The staff were really helpful and sweet. This is not a fancy place, but it is a very nice place.
