It is a place with a medley of things to do. Thamel has some nice stores to buy a lot of handicrafts and pashmina material, however will be on the pricey side but negotiable at times. There are a few very nice places to eat in the area. It also has some nice cafes and bars for the night-owls.

If you can look past the constant touting, the dirt and the stench, you will have a great time in Tamel. Lots of interesting items at bargain prices. Nice variety and lots of small restaurants with great food. I recommend.

Thamel is a cozy but congested place. But it appears to be a fun place with lots of souvenirs and hiking/trekking gear to buy.
