I stayed in Radisson in the month of February-13 for 3 Nights.

Approach & location:- Probably the best part of the hotel is the location. It is located very closely to few important markets like Durbar Marg & Lazimpat. Although the approach to the hotel is slightly Odd. It is a bit congested & orthodox.

Checkin:- If you have a reservation made in advance, expect the checkin process to be very smooth. If you have a room preference, please specify in advance. Though i was a business traveller & it didn't make a difference to me if it was the new wing or the old. Just to specify, i stayed in the old wing. The lifts are old & at times one of them stays under maintanance.

Room & Bed:- The Room appeared slightly small for the radisson standard. It could have been a bit bigger. The Bed was alright & comfortable. The Bathrooms were Neat, tidy & Clean. No Complaints on it.

Restaurant:- If you are an indian, this might be the most disappointing part. The Indian cuisine, atleast the Veg Part, was monotonous & limited. I stayed 3 nights & the food in the evenings was not upto the mark. Even the breakfast menu had almost the same menu every day.

Brownie Points:- The best part about the stay was complimentary Pick Up & Drop from the Airport & complimentary Wi-fi. And trust me it is very cost effective to have these 2 things complimentary in Nepal.

All said and done, it was an average stay at Radisson.

I stayed here 3 nights. The room was not that big but good enough for 2. But the bed was a bit hard. Anyway you can see above Kathmandu from the window. The service was great and the breakfast was sufficient. I loved the fruit juices.

There were a few currency exchange shops and a supermarket around the area. The location was convenient, quite close to good restaurants and major attractions. It didn't take me long to anywhere.

Located walking distance from Thamal. I stayed in the new wing which was clean and well maintained. Food and drinks are a little expensive its easy to walk to get food or grab a cab to all the local attractions. Stayed for a week. Rooms were always clean beds turned down and staff was very friendly and helpful. Not likely to see too many souls looking to find themselves here. In fact you could isolate yourself here to the point you dont even realize you're in Kathmandu. But a quick one block walk will immerse you back into the city.

Stayed here 3 nights as part of a Gate 1 tour. Great location within easy walking to a grocery store, a couple restaurants and tourist shops, however the hotel itself has much to be desired. The bed mattress was so hard I had sore hip bones! Impossible to get comfortable at night as the pillows were super hard also. One of the 2 elevators was out of order during most of our stay and the electricity went out a couple times each day (came back on within a minute). It looks like there is a new section and an an old section to the hotel. We were in the old part which was charming but small rooms. The casino was dirty & dark & scarey. Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: There is clothes line in the bathroom so this was a good place to do some sink laundry

The Radisson has all the amenities one would expect from a high quality hotel, including professional and attentive staff, classy decor, and comfortable rooms. Also, in a city with frequent and lengthy power cuts, the Radisson never lost power or hot water, except for the occasional 10-15 seconds when switching back and forth between the grid and generator.

However, the Radisson's best selling point is its location near the Thamel neighborhood. Construction along the main road near the hotel, Lazimpat Rd., has torn up the sidewalks and made walking a bit treacherous, especially at night since there are no streetlights, but certainly doable. The walk to Thamel is about 15 minutes, or it is a 2-5 minute taxi ride, depending on traffic, at a cost of about 100-200 rupees. The area is quite safe too. Along the walk, you will pass the former Royal Palace (the high brick walls) and the Garden of Dreams (a little slice of heaven amidst the chaos).

The room service menu is sparse, but you have plenty of options from the nearby restaurants in Thamel. I can't speak to the hotel restaurants since I did not try them, but the breakfast buffet is diverse and delicious.

Note, the Radisson is actually a "complex" of two hotels: the main building and a satellite building just across the street. The satellite building is newer and the one this review concerns. Also, the courtyard behind the satellite building can get noisy at night, so you may want to ask for a room facing the main hotel.

Overall, I highly recommend the Rad.

Room Tip: The courtyard behind the satellite building can get noisy at night, so you may want to ask for a room facing the main hotel.
