The TripAdvisor map is not in the right place. The Lotus Guest House is a five minute walk north, then east of the Boudha Stupa.

Lovely, tranquil garden, comfortable rooms. Sure the monks start ringing and banging and chanting at about 5am, but that is what makes Boudha special. I enjoy a lie-in as much as the next guy, but if you are in bed at dawn in Boudha you have just missed the most magical time of the day.

And for the price, it was perfect.

This is a guest house run by monastery. It is located in the end of a quiet alley closed to the main square, with very budget price (500 NPR for single room with shared bath room) in Bouddha area, and a nice garden. There are lots of monasteries nearby, so you have a high chance to hear the pleasant sound of drum during morning ceremony time. The negative part is that you have to wait a very sunny day to have hot shower because only solar system is used to heat water (no electric heater), which is actually quite normal in Nepal. Nevertheless, it is still a good choice for budget backpackers.

Little jewel in the middle of the touristic area of Boudha in Kathmandu. Rooms are pretty basic, but clean and light. The best thing about this guest house is its location. It is very quiet and sheltered from all the crowds of people coming to the Boudha stupa and nearby area. The guest house has a nice little courtyard and is surrounded by the nearby monastery giving it a very beautiful and quiet energy. I felt my whole being regenerating in this quiet healing energy surrounding the whole guest house. This is a place for those looking for peace and quiet in the middle of the hectic chaos of Kathmandu.

I had a nice room, well furnished and a good space. The common bathroom is small but will fill your needs. The location is right by the great stupa, but not in the busiest part of the area. The staff is helpful and the area is nice with a garden with greens and everything is clean and nice.
