First, I would like to thank the work of the porters, guides and Norsang Lama to make possible the successful summiting at 19/10/2024.
The trek itself is about 14 days, and it requires some physical and mental preparedness. The first few days is an up and down wandering in the forrests. After reaching Kothe the real adventure begins and you start to feel the Himalayas. The summit day is quite demanding, as the previous day you trek up to high-camp, and after spending a short night in a tent, wake up at 1 am and start to peak Mera. And after that back to Kare. Even going down does not simple as before going back to Lukla you have to climb up to a high pass.
The food was very good for the whole trek, the tea house (lodge) accommodation is better what you can expect in some mountains, but still you have to adapt to the cold, isolation (no network, sometimes no wifi) and the monotonous daily routines.
Our trekking guide Suren, helped us everything, know everything, and was a great guy. The porters did the heavy part of the trek, without their job it won’t be even harder to do this.
An important thing is to keep in mind that the flights to and back to Lukla is never a sure thing, maybe you have to wait days, so when calculating the whole length of the journey add 1 or 2 days as a safety time.
My final summary is that I found Norsang Lama and his company absolutely reliable, and if I ever go back to Nepal I will going to consider them again as my tour operator.
Amazing experience!
We did the Manaslu circuit and Tsum Valley trekking and enjoyed every second of it. Every aspect of the trekking was planned to perfection, from our accommodations to daily trekking schedules, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.
Our guide, Birendra Tamang, was knowledgeable, professional, and passionate, sharing insights into the local culture, history and landscapes along the way. His expertise and encouragement made all the difference, especially during the more challenging parts of the trek. He ensured our safety and well-being at all times, even in the high-altitude sections, which was incredibly reassuring.
The route through the Tsum Valley felt like a step back in time, with unspoiled landscapes, traditional villages, and warm, welcoming locals. Every day was an immersion in breathtaking scenery, from the lush forests at lower altitudes to the awe-inspiring mountain views as we climbed higher.
The Manaslu Circuit itself was a thrilling experience, blending dramatic mountain scenery with serene trails. Every turn on the circuit revealed stunning views of Mount Manaslu and neighboring peaks, and the journey through diverse ecosystems made each day feel unique. From lush valleys and roaring rivers to high-altitude passes, the entire trek was an immersion into nature's grandeur.
Accommodations were surprisingly comfortable given the remote locations, and we were treated to delicious, authentic meals that provided the energy needed for each day’s trek. The team made sure our dietary needs were met, which was very much appreciated.
We did in October and November the Tsum valley and Manaslu trekking with guide Birenda. It was wonderfull and everything was well arranged ! Also shout out to Birenda for the Guiding and learning/telling more about the Nepal culture and the cart game Dumbal ;) !
This was my second solo trek with Norsang at High Camp Trekking. The first was back in 2006 to EBC. On that trip, we did the Gokyo Lakes - Cho La Pass route. It was absolutely unforgettable, and I made a friend for life!
Norsang and I stayed in touch for many years and this year we made even better!! We planned a 21 day Island Peak summit, (although I think we did it in about 16 days). We first made our way to Everest Base Camp where we overnighted with an Expedition outfit Norsang was working with. Then we circled back to the Kongma La Pass on to Chukkhung. I had no experience using crampons or a harness and ropes, so during the trek, he taught me various knots and we practiced ascending and rappelling during our afternoon side treks. On May 1st, we summited Island. I had some difficulty on the way down from fatigue, but I was never worried knowing I was in good hands. And sure enough, we completed the trek safe and sound. Right after that, I went back to Lukla while Norsang returned to Everest. Norsang made his first summing of Mount Everest on May 22nd!!
We had a beautiful time trekking through Ghorepani, Poon Hill and Ghandruk village with Birendra ☺️ We only had a short time for trekking and the company managed to squeeze this itinerary in 3 days for us. Though it was rainy and sometimes cloudy, the villages were serene, peaceful and picturesque. I would recommend to anyone 🤩
Our group of 13 had a wonderful and unforgettable trek to Annapurna Base Camp with Norsang and his team of two guides and six porters. Everything was very smooth from the moment of booking to the last goodbye dinner. Norsang is highly professional, kind, humble and generous. The tour price was very reasonable and included all meals, lodging, transport and domestic flights, so we really didn't have to worry about a thing. He also gave us great tips, helping us rent sleeping bags and purchase other necessities before the trek, such as water sterilizer tablets and microspikes. He briefed us on what to expect each day and was especially patient with our group of eight teens! I would definitely book with Norsang again for any future Nepal treks - which we are keen to come back for!
