“Peaceful hotel, clean, tidy and clean”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2011

Lovely little hotel, with a wonderful little courtyard. Within walking distance of the cross-roads shopping area (maybe 10 minutes when I walked), and apparently walking distance to Old Town (but I did not do this, in the car it looked close enough to walk in 20-30mins).

Safe area.

Honestly, I stayed in several places in Lilongwe, but I prefer Madidi.
Its cozy, very helpful staff, peaceful, yet close to town.
The rooms are very big and have a very warm decor.
And the gardens are wonderful, so green, lots of birds.
And on arrival I received a free massage in their treatment room, and man I needed that!

What a fantastic experience our group of 37 had while staying at Madidi. The rooms were clean and the meals delicious. When it came time to leave we were even given a muffin to take knowing that we would be traveling for more then 24 hours. The service was excellent!! I would HIGHLY recommend this charming lodge to anyone visitng the "warm heart of Africa."

We stayed at Madidi lodge for 3 days in July. It was the perfect blend of great food, amenities, relaxed/friendly atmosphere and delicious home cooked food to help us recover from a long journey and a hard few weeks of village life.

The exceptionally friendly owners instantly made us feel at home and excellent staff made us both very relaxed.

Madidi lodge is a tranquil retreat right in the very heart of lilongwe and would make a perfect "home from home" for any weary traveller.

I have stayed in Madidi several times. The location is ideal as it is close to the town centre and at the same time still peaceful and quiet. The staff people are extremely welcoming and friendly and have been helpful in every way they can on every occasion.
The rooms are clean, practical and really spacious. Normal life was sometimes disturbed by typical events in Malawian life i.e. shortage of fuel, problems with water supply and electricity. The managment has put in a lot of effort to minimize any discomfort for the guests by running generators, extra water tanks and assisting where ever they can, so these impracticalies were hardly noticable at all.
