Don't stay here! You get a extremely sketchy room for a price of a decent hotel. While the outside seems fine, it does not reflect the quality of the inside. We rented two rooms, in one there was no toilet seat, the showerhead was missing so it was impossible to shower, there were roaches and the bed sheet and pillowcase had mildew on them. In the other, there were similar issues and the bedroom light didn't work. The staff repeatedly promised us toilet paper (which they brought up, not us) because they didn't even have any on site. They also promised to put some small perishables in their fridge for us - which they didn't, causing them to spoil, which the manager found hysterical. We were generally treated with a tremendous amount of disrespect and mockery. I live in Benin, and have stayed at some budget places (which this was not) and this was the worst general attitude/customer service I have experienced. Oh, and they stole my cell phone. Definitely NOT worth 24,000 cfa. This hotel is a dump, with truly terrible management.

We were advised to go here by a hotel which was full. Terrible idea. There is nothing welcoming or friendly about the hotel or the staff. The rooms were dirty, the shower and toilet didn't work properly. When I got out of the shower and rubbed my face with my towel I noticed a rancid smell, then looked at the towel and it was filthy!!! So disgusting. We just upped and left, which is something I never do. I've stayed in some bad places in Africa but this place is low.

I booked the hotel on line direct, and stayed there three days.
The hotel, as described on their web site, was a masterful piece of creative writing. They described the hotel that they "would like to have", not the real thing. The web "description" is a flat lie. Someone has a building for a hotel, but cannot afford to equipt and maintain it. It is a mediocre hotel that would do if you did not have a place to stay. It is not a terrible hotel, it was not a dirty hotel, the room was in fact spacious, the bed was fine, and the AC worked. The key to the room did not work well. In case of a fire, you would be out of luck. No running water in the sink. There was a large bucket of water on the floor by the sink from which to dip, and use in the sink. One bathroom bulb was hanging on it's wire, and the other did not work. Guy could not fix it. The tub looked dirty, but I suspect it was just an old tub, so you take a stand up shower, with no shower curtains. You only get one towel, slightly larger than a hand towel. Closet was crude and unpainted inside. There is a large space for a restaurant, but it was roped off. There really are no restaurants. There were two tables available for eating, but the lighting was extremely poor. When you are ready for breakfast they go buy the bread and eggs and make the breakfast; same for dinner. At check out I paid the clerk 134,000 CFA, and she gave me a receipt for 127,000 CFA. She said the difference was for her. She got mad when I insisted on a receipt for the difference. I could go on, but I will end here. They are just not ready to do business with western clients. Again that hotel description is false.

Benin Dona Hotel exists for 27 years and is this day the only hotel of category 3 stars of Porto Novo. We accept the critics coming on behalf of Mister Roy Sacramento as far as his stay in our Establishment corresponded to a period of discount for the standards movable, which continues moreover.
We are simply anxious to apologize to him for the undergone inconveniences. We regret, besides, the acerbic character of the used formulations sweeping of the lapel of the hand all which continues to be implemented to satisfy our clientele including the quality of our services performances.
Then loan or not loan for the international business, we cultivate the art to satisfy you!
