I stayed in what probably was the old side of the hotel and the furniture was old, carpet very old. Cleanliness can not be achieved in that. The service was ecxellent, the food great. Location is very convinient, in the centre of town.

I wasn't sure what to expect but in the end this was a good choice of hotel for me.

It is located in a vibrant part of central Harare which means you can easily walk about and explore, but my own room (514) was quite noisy in the evenings - particularly at the weekend when the 'Beer Engine' was open and playing VERY loud music.

The food at breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of both hot and cold food available. There is no actual bar in the hotel but two choices within the same building, the quieter, jazz orientated 'Usual Place' and the more vibrant 'Beer Engine'.

Unfortunately the description of it possessing a pool is misleading - it may have one (on the first floor) but it is not actually usable in my opinion. There seemed to be an amount of refurbishment on-going on floors 1 & 2, which is probably a good thing but could have been explained better.

If you are travelling to Zimbabwe make sure you take plenty of US$ with you as there is absolutely NO cash available via ATMs or the banks. You can pay for goods in shops and supermarkets by card (Visa, etc.) but it is impossible to get cash of any type from the banks. You have been warned!

Finally, if this hotel was located in the UK it would be a 2 or 3 star (at best) but considering all the difficulties still present in everyday life in Zimbabwe, the staff compensate admirably for the material shortcomings of the building and thus my 4 star rating.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back (north-east) of the building away from the main road and the busy side street.

staff seem tired and need motivation. Its unfortunate cash is not readily available made tips could make them want to work. Also not providing room service is an area to be looked at. It is so tiring to go to the ground floor for a meal especially after arriving late in the evening,

Room Tip: If more wall plugs could be fitted so that one can use the gadgets that need power at once

The service was satisfactory. When I checked in, the Duty Manager phoned my room after some few minutes to check if everything was fine. The staff was friendly and cooperative. There is need to introduce room service. It was my first time staying at your hotel and honestly I was impressed

This hotel is the worst I have ever slept in.Everything is horrible. Stay away! The carpets have a foul smell as well as the bathrooms. Corridors were noisy and doors always banging. We could not even do their free breakfast after the terrible night
