Simply Magical! The Camp is nestled high above the Serengeti with spectacular views and surrounded by animals. The tents are beautiful and the butler service is top notch. Game drives were spectacular and guide was friendly and super knowledgeable. Food was delicious and as vegans we were blown away with the options. What really made our stay special was the staff. From arrival to departure, the personalized service and attention to detail was superb. They sang to my husband and I on our last night at dinner since they knew it was our 10 year anniversary trip. The staff here really go above and beyond. I cried when we left. Highly recommend and hope to visit again!

Serengeti Pioneer Camp was the most “back in time” tent lodge experience of our safari.
The location was a >1.5h game drive south of the airstrip, in a beautiful and very remote location. It is positioned on top of a rockpile, with a lounge deck and dining tent with beautiful views over the plain. With a high-power telescope provided on the lounge deck, game can be spotted miles out in the distance.
The tents are very original, with canvas floors, but fully equipped including a very large shower. The team will light up a wooden water heater outside, if solar did not provide enough hot water during the days. There is no electricity in the tents, only basic solar battery powered illumination. No plugs, so no device charging, hairdryer, etc., which is provided centrally by the reception tent. All worked out very nicely for us, with the help of the very friendly team.
After dark, you need to call for a guide to accompany you to the common / restaurant area and back, as the camp has no electric fence, which is a nice opportunity for a chat with the local guide.
Game drives were well organized, but like the transfer somewhat hampered by the very poor road conditions in this area. This made the drive out to the migration at the Ngorogoro side of the park quite stressful, but fully worth the effort once you are there and driving with the herds of animals out there.
The quality and service in the restaurant is very good, with a very nice list of wines included. The management and its team are very friendly and helpful and provide a perfect service.
We would certainly recommend this camp to anyone looking for a 5-star, but very traditional and back-to-basics tent safari experience in the Serengeti.

We visited the camp in December, a fantastic experience.

Camp nicely situated, tucked out of the way with fantastic views across the Serengitti.

Comfortable tented accommodation, with all you required.

What made the stay extra special was the fantastic staff, who went over and above to make our stay special. Special breakfasts by the pool and on the viewing deck.

Wonderful safaris with lunch out. Fabulous evening meals with a special send off for our last night. With singing, dancing and cake.

Alex our safari guide was the best we have experienced out of several safaris we have taken. He understood exactly what we wanted. Took the trouble to investigate the weather during the green season, for example suggesting best times and areas to visit. Due to his expertise we saw mixed wildebeest and zebra herds, massive buffalo herds, lions, Leopards, cheetas to name a few. Not forgetting the new born buffalo calf taking its first steps. Alex was very knowledgeable and qualified we saw and learnt a lot.

We will definitely visit again, along with other elewana camps

OH. MY GOD! What an incredible, life changing and remarkable experience we had. The camp is truly astonishing – I think when people think about luxury camping on safari, Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp is what they are thinking of – I know it was the case for us! My entire family works in either event production or travel, so we know a thing or two about taking care of guests and creating remarkable emotional souvenirs – and the team at Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp NAILED it.

The tent - and that seems hardly the right expression for whatever it was we slept in – was SO comfortable, clean and lovely, and drifting off to sleep hearing the sounds of the Serengeti is something my family and I won’t soon forget! The lodge with amazing, elevated views was a daily destination for pre-dinner games and catching up, and the dining as on point as any restaurant I’ve visited, much less one ten hours hard drive from the nearest grocers!

But remarkable though the physical aspects of the camp are – and its hard to imagine that you move it several times a year, it was the staff that truly made the experience for us. From the moment Remsis welcomed us to the camp, it felt like we were amongst friends – he and his team were efficient, effective, welcoming and lovely without exception. Elimo took such good care of my kids, my wife and I, and couldn’t have been more lovely, kind and accommodating. Baracka made me hot water every morning so I could shower, which was so kind! The food created was delicious, thoughtful and curated – sort of astonishing, as they were cooking 5-star food essentially in the middle of nowhere! But it was our guide Fabian who really put the icing on the cake – it was like being guided by a wildlife encyclopedia, and the breadth of Maasai knowledge and insight was a gift to us. He always knew where to go and what to see, and really lived in harmony with the land.

We had an amazing time and created memories together that will last a lifetime – thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was THE trip of a lifetime! I don't know what else to call it. Elewana is TOP NOTCH all the way around. Our lodgings, the food and all amenities were on point, but what makes Pioneer Safari Camp SO special is THE STAFF! EVERYONE went over and above what was needed to INSURE we had a great experience! From the manager Remsi to our 'head waiter' Jumah to our butler Barack and everybody in between...this was the BEST trip we've ever taken! Our safari guide Alex was simply THE BEST guide anyone could ever have! We found 'The Big 5' within the first 2 days and that was ALL because we had Alex. He was so knowledgeable and willing to do whatever he needed to get us WHERE we needed to be, WHEN we needed to be there, in order to see the animals in their natural environment. Alex went above and beyond all our expectations! Again...the entire staff made us feel safe, welcome and well taken care of! Do yourself a favor and GO to Pioneer Camp! Kudos, Elewana!!
