Been there because recommended in our lonely planet -maybe not updated?!?!
Unfortunately after a long wait - though we were the only customers - both meals, chicken tajine and kefta - were tasteless and dry. Restaurant looks oldish and a bit dusty, we were doubtful to enter there actually, and prices are not cheaper than elsewhere.
Definitively better option to walk in Medina and find another place to eat in.

To be honest- i don't know where to start. We had to wait over an hour in the icecold livingroom to get our food. We asked for some heating, but this was so weak, that it stayed cold all the time. Then the food was extremely bad: the vegetarian couscous had no seasoning at all -except salt and this way too much. The chicken with abricots was dry and full of Bones. Even the tea wasn't good - i mean how can you mess up tea? We both didn't finish our meals and paid the enormously overpriced bill. Not recommended at all!

We had a delicious lunch of kebabs and salad in this family's charming home. The food was deliciously, and quickly prepared for us. There were no other customers in the place. It was a treat to have a private meal.

The food was delicious. The couscous with grapes and cinnamon was really outstanding. Would definetely go back only for the couscous. :)

This restaurant is actually the home of a real Moroccan family. It definitely has character and the owners seem to care.

When you order, the owners will go to the market, buy your food and cook it. It can't be any fresher than that, but as a result it can take a long time between ordering and being served. My best advice is: go in advance (say at 5pm), order what you want and tell them you want to eat it at a specific, later time. That way you will be served quickly after being seated.
