“We were strangers in Paradise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2012

My husband and I had a chance to stay at the Riad Noor Charana which was a piece of Paradise! The manager, Mr. Astier, is a very jovial gentleman. You feel at home right away with him. He speaks perfect English and is a very pleasant man. Moha is a Moroccan man who is Mr. Astier's assistant and is a very helpful man who can tell you how to get places and when you take a taxi he makes sure you are not overcharged, which is very nice.
At the Riad you have excellent food. Radia, who is the chef, cooks authentic Marrakech and Moroccan food. She is also a very pleasant young woman. I asked her if she would give me some cooking lessons and she accepted very graciously. I spent 2 days in the kitchen with her and learned how to make wonderful food. Her price was 130 diramh a day meaning around $30 a day; but if you want to do that, get ready to work. For example, the crepes are absolutely delicious but a lot of work. But I recommend that everyone do that; it is a wonderful thing to learn. And finally we have Naima who is the housekeeper; she always has a big smile on her face and she leaves everything spotless. Her sheets are crisp and white and her towels are very soft. If you would like to go to Marrakech, this is the place to go! It is in the heart of the Medina, where you shop, a very busy place in sharp contrast to the peace and quiet of Riad Noor Charana. My husband, who is a musician, really appreciated the peace and quiet of the place. Bon Voyage! From Christine & Irwin

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor with a very nice bathroom. They have only 2 bedroom rooms on the...

The owner was very friendly and helpful. He speaks French, Spanish and English (at least). His staff is also friendly and accomodating. They speak French and Moroccan Arabic. Five minute walk to Jemaa El Fna, right in the Medina. Safe location, even at night. Great breakfast included. Has heat and hot water for those traveling in winter like us. Also air conditioning in room for those staying during the summer. The place has been designed with impeccable taste and is very clean. The rooms do not have locks but it is very secure. I brought a camera, laptop and iPad and had no problems. I also left my passport and some Euros in the room and no one ever touched them. There is a computer with internet access for guests. No WIFI though. Like most dwellings in the Medina, don't judge this place from the outside. The interior is what matters.

Very nice little riad - simple, but charming. Very clean. Helpful and friendly staff. The rooms have a separate bathroom - I did not mind, but others complained that you have to leave your room to get to your private bathroom (it's the next door - so not a big deal).

The riad is very close to the Place. You are in the middle of the action. On the second day you will have no troubles to find your way back through the hustle and bustle of the Medina. I always felt save (and travelled alone!)

Please make sure to book a dinner - food is delicious.

I recently spent 7 days in Marrakech. I was more than suprised at the Riad Noor Charana. The friendly staff, lovely host Rene Jean, and the appointment to detail were incredible. I would stay nowhere else after staying here. This Riad is the finest in all of Marrakech! I loved every minute!

Room Tip: The upper floor rooms are wonderful and I would recommend them. The large room on the first level is...

Excellent Riad and a real oasis amid the excitement of the souks. The staff were very attentative and couldn't do enough for us. They help arrange a balloon flight and attendance at an international football match. The breakfast was very high quality and consisted of fruit, yogurt, pancakes, cake etc. Having spoken to gusets at other riads we were spoilt at the Riad Noor Charana. We would definitely visit Riad Noor Charana again.
