Alnour is a social enterprise providing almost exclusively women with special needs with fairly paid work, social security, trainings, free meals.
Alnour produces home textiles and clothing made from 100% natural fibers - rare to find in Marrakech except for woolen carpets.
The products unite modern designs with the traditional arts and crafts of the country.
Located in the Medina of Marrakech, the spacious shop with its friendly staff make for a memorable shopping experience.
All the home textiles can be ordered made to measure to fit your beds and tables @ home!
The day care center and workshop is connected directly to the shop and you can visit it on weekdays, see the women embroidering and weaving in a light filled space with all accessible amenities, unique in Marrakech, probably in the whole country.
A memorable experience we can warmly recommend!

My wife and I went to Al Nour after we read about how they give women with disabilities a dignified way to make a living by sewing. They give them a fair wage, child care while at work and transportation to and from work as well as health care and security.
They operate out of a new building. It is clean and fresh, the women are lovely and welcoming and their work is beautiful.
They make women, mens and childrens garments as well as cushion covers napkins and tablecloths to name some things and they are elegant and beautiful.
They didnt have my size shirt so they offered to make me one and asked what material I would like and what colour thread for the detailing, and they would ship.
The pricing is higher than what you would normally pay in Marrakech but to us, worth every penny.
I would recommend this place to any of my friends.

Al Nour has wonderful textiles, embroideries, linens, silk, cashmere... I could have bought many, many things at this store-- alas, it is pricey. If you are able and willing to pay what are basically European or North American prices for a special piece, it is a good place to go. In any case, it is worthwhile checking out the store and marveling at the nice pieces and materials. Al Nour is a company that trains handicapped women in language and artisan skills and presumably pays the women a fair wage. Employment provides access to health care and pensions. It was tempting to pay the higher price thinking that it is for a good cause, However, I ended up spending some money at AL KAWTAR, the non-profit women's collective that basically pursues the some mission as Al Nour.

I came to this shop by accident while touring the old medina in Marrakech. Once in, you notice that the quality and items stand out of the norms available in all around shops. Top quality needle work and very neat designs. I highly recommend shopping at Al Nour for your gifts or for your home. The NGO's cause is admirable too.

The merchandise they sell is high quality and stylish. It is mostly textiles such as table linens, apparel and baby items. They are embellished with tasteful creative embroidery. I wish they sent a stronger message about their mission to help support handicapped women. From the outside it isn't really advertised. It is pricier that most of the merchandise in the medina, but definitely worth it!
