My wife and I travelled around Morocco during the first 2 weeks of March 2017. A free and easy travel. Upon arrival at the Casablanca Airport, we took a train to Marrakech.

When we checked-in at the Hotel Cecil we were greeted by a friendly English-speaking Mr Said Del Desierto. He was very helpful and gave us useful tips of getting around in Marrakech.

The hotel was right at the Jemma El Fna square. Lively Medina, with plenty of street foods to savour. A very convenient and central location. Most places of interest were within walking distances from Hotel Cecil Marrakech.

Special thanks to Mr Said!

Room Tip: You can view the Jemma El Fnaa square from the roof top, also the place for breakfast.

I LOVE IT! unbeatable location,RIGHT in plaza Jema f Na (I will never know how to spell it) -it is in a little street in the plaza,so u can 't hear any noise coming from it. AMAZING staff, above all Mohamed, the manager, who couldn't be more helpful. Price includes self service breakfast, with tea, coffee, croissants- 3 different kinds!-, butter ,jam, bread, eggs, cheese , orange juice(real one, freshly squeezed!). It' s a riad, no roof. there is also a common fridge.Very important:all rooms have a sink.I don t know if there r room ensuite, but shared toilets are very clean, with lots of toilet par.... One SECOND walk and u r in the centre of everything. Unbelievable.Mohamed,I am using my tajine every single day! Thanx!

I have stayed in many mid range hotels in the medina over the past thirty five years, but this is the best one I've stayed in. We stayed for three nights in January 2017 and had a lovely time here. We were booked for a twin room and when we arrived (late at night) they gave us a larger quad room (double and two single beds) on the first floor at no extra charge. It did not bother us at all that we had a shared bathroom because there were only three rooms on our floor and access was easy. There were 2 showers and 2 toilets in there for three rooms sharing and we never once had to wait to get in there. Our room had two power points so we could make tea, use our laptops and charge our phones. The reception guys were always helpful and welcoming to us and always had time to talk and ask us how we were and about what we were visiting in Marrakesh. The decor in this hotel is lovely, like a riad house. There is a large courtyard on the ground floor with seating which would be ideal for business meetings. The hotel has been extensively refurbished and is a very pleasant and quiet place to stay. No late night parties here. With it being only around 200 metres to the Djem El Fna it is easy to see all of the sights in the medina. The prices at this hotel are great for the quality of the rooms, general decor and ambience and much cheaper than what I would likely be asked to pay elsewhere. Clean sheets, clean room, clean hotel. A good breakfast was included and there is a rooftop terrace for breakfast or general access, with a good view. We chose to have breakfast in our room, so brought it downstairs ourselves. I highly recommend this hotel and have already booked to stay there again in October this year.

Room Tip: Several rooms on the ground floor have a private bathroom.

Period Riad dating from 1929, conveniently located just a few metres from Jamaa el Fna.
However, the property looks like it hasn't been decorated since 1929.
Also Jamaa el Fna is painfully noisy all day and through the early hours of the morning: a constant cacophony of loud drumming and wailing sounds as if it comes from the hotel room next door. Maybe it was?
WiFi appears to connect, but doesn't work. And the staff don't care.

Room Tip: I think guests in all the rooms will suffer the same disturbane from the constant racket outside.
