My daughter and I spent 3 nights at the Riad Camilia and loved everything about it. Nicolas and the staff are a delight; he is helpful by email before and in person during your trip with all sorts of recommendations. The Riad is beautifully decorated, comfortable and peaceful while close to everything in the Medina. The breakfast is good and the dinner on the rooftop was delicious. It’s hard to imagine a better place to stay in Marrakech.

From the moment we were collected from our taxi in Medina my daughter and I would be well taken care of at Riad Camilia which we needed as it was our first time in Marrakech. There are no cars allowed in the Medina so our bags were taken by trolley to the hotel. We were then guided by the Sultan through the narrow Medina streets surrounded by ancient walls which gave no clue to what was behind until Sultan pointed out doorways to restaurants and museums. After a few minutes, we followed Sultan through a small archway in a dark alley to the door of the Riad Camilia. When it was opened and our eyes widened at the magnificent beauty of the ancient courtyard with its Moroccan tiled floors, hand-woven rugs and artefacts, and a refreshing pool surrounded by fruit trees. We felt like we were going to be guests in a small palace.
There was no formal check-in, instead, we were welcomed like old friends by Sultan and given mint tea and little sesame-studded cakes to enjoy on a balcony outside our room overlooking the courtyard. As we sat outside our gorgeously decorated room, which felt more like a suite, sipping tea mint Sultan brought us a map and showed us how to find the best sites, the souk and the cafes which were all within walking distance. We also booked the Riad's own Hamman, in a small room off the courtyard. We wandered down in the gowns and slippers left on our bed. We had never experienced a hamman before so we did not know what to expect. It is a total exfoliation which left us feeling relaxed, refreshed and very clean - ready to start our adventure in Marrakech.
The souk was really busy and we got lost a few times in the narrow streets which were full of traders selling exotic spices, argon oil and gorgeous handicrafts and rugs. So, at the end of the day when we escaped back to the Riad, we delighted to be given a lovely private Moroccan dinner on a beautifully set table outside our room. On other nights we ate at wonderful bijou local restaurants recommended by the wonderful manager Nicolas. Nicolas is a wonderful host who treats his guests like they are old friends while making sure that everything in the hotel runs smoothly. Nicolas even took time to recommend books in the little Riad library. We hadn't booked tables at any of the restaurants but one mention of Nicolas or the Riad Camilia and we were taken straight away to best tables and treated like honoured guests.
We also had dinners in various beautifully decorated areas of the Riad including the dining room, the roof terrace and the courtyard. Every part of the Riad is uniquely decorated by the owner, Camilia and the attention paid to detail is noticeable in every ornament and piece of furniture. This is a place which invites you to explore its hidden treasures from the courtyard to roof terrace.
The roof terrace is an experience in itself, at the top of the stone stairs case there are towels sun hats, sunscreen and anything else you might need if you would sunbathe or dip into the plunge pool after breakfast. Our breakfast of conserves, fruit salad and pain perdu and coffee set us up for a day of exploring but some days the beauty of the Riad and the views from the roof terrace made it hard for us to leave. However, this is a perfect spot to visit the sites of the medina or take a taxi further afield.
I felt the Riad Camilia would be a great venue for a big group of friends or family, or a lone traveller looking for a quiet retreat to write a novel perhaps or just escape from stress.

Room Tip: The individual rooms are described on the website - they are all lovely

My husband and I stayed in Riad Camilia for 7 nights in June. We were overwhelmed with the beauty of this place, very stylish interiors and beautifully decorated rooms. The room we stayed in was the largest in the riad which consisted of two private sitting rooms adjoined to our bedroom, a private courtyard with rooftop access, balcony overlooking the central courtyard and a bathroom with double sinks and stunning bath/shower.

Breakfast was served on the rooftop each morning and was perfect for our needs. Fruits, juices, breads and pancakes. We ate in the riad on two evenings and the 3 course dinner was delicious, beautifully presented and served with delicious wines.

It is hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay in Riad Camilia. We felt very much at home after our days of adventure in the souks. What makes Riad Camilia different is Nicolas. Every morning he is there to help you with your plans and to make some suggestions. He is the jewel! His staff are fantastic and friendly. We would definitely recommend Riad Camilia 100%

Riad Camilia is a Paradise! If you’re visiting Marrakech, I thoroughly recommend staying here at Riad Camilia. It’s situated inside the old city walls and is about 10 mins walk from the main square so it’s easy to get to most places. The Riad is utterly beautiful, a complete oasis of peace and tranquility. It’s ideal for couples seeking some much needed rest and relaxation. The Riad is like staying in a palace but also like being in your own living room because the staff there are so very accommodating. They are friendly and attentive and cannot do enough for you. The breakfasts are delicious, we stayed also for dinner one night which was excellent. I also had a hammam massage at the Riad which was blissful. I won’t name all the staff here but they are all truly wonderful and we had the best time staying here. Marrakech itself is a wonderful city, there is so much to see and do and we miss it already!

A quick thank you to Nicholas and his team for looking after us and making our first stay in Marrakesh a memorable one. Came over for a friends birthday, he had booked the whole Riad for a couple of days. Stunning location/food, beautiful room, the moment we arrived we were able to slip into holiday mode. Can not recommend highly enough.
