We didn't stay at Ryad Alya (as we had already booked other accommodations) but it's a beautiful place with fascinating architecture and unique rooms. We came to Ryad Alya for a cooking class on the recommendation of our host. It was a really great experience and the culinary highlight of a month-long trip! Hassnae walked us through the souks to pick out all our meats, vegetables, and spices, teaching us about the various ingredients as well as Moroccan culture. When we returned to the riad, we met the chefs and learned from them how to make fabulous Moroccan dishes (4 types of cooked salads, harira soup, and lamb tajine). We spent the afternoon cooking with Hassnae and our two lovely & knowledgeable chefs (Amina and Fatima), and had a great time making delicious food (and tasting it once it was done!). The ladies were all so patient and so fun to work with! In the evening, we returned to the riad and got to enjoy the food we made on the rooftop, overlooking the medina, listening to live music. What a fantastic day and an incredible dinner (if I may say so myself)! Can't recommend it highly enough!

What a value this Ryad is! Ryad Alya rivals Morrocan palaces in its ornamentation, the rooms are not just luxurious, but enormous, the home-cooked food was some of the best we had anywhere, and you can get a private hammam and massage on premises!

The relaxation of Ryad Alya (and Fès) are the perfect ending to a long holiday.

We stayed in the Meknes suite which was fantastic, excellent bathroom and very comfortable bed. Very welcoming staff, lovely Riad, with an excellent terrace with panoramic views. Five minute walk from the Blue Gate, so very good location. Each room is based on a style of the city it is named after, which makes it feel very individualistic, as well as being luxurious. Breakfasts were excellent, and very sizeable, so you will not go hungry! All sorts of pastries and breads, and a decanter of orange juice!\
We would definitely stay here again!

Let me start this long review by saying this was our first time to Morocco. We fell in love with the people of Morocco. Very kind and welcoming. No place was that shown more than at our Ryad. The entire staff at the Ryad Alya made our time in Fes wonderful. Hassnae and her staff: Omar, Assia and the manager, Lahcen were great! The Ryad is well done. The rooms are very clean and comfortable.

We stayed in the Casablanca Suite. It was great. Our meals were authentic Moroccan dishes. Excellent preparation and presentation. The Ryad is located just within the Medina. Great location to experience the Medina and other areas out of town.

These people want you there and made you feel welcomed at any chance you let them. It was ramadan while were in Fes and what an amazing time to experience the dedication and kindness of the Moroccan people.

I am trying to think of anything balanced or critical to say and I do not have any items except this: I saw a bunch of reviews that said go ahead and go thru the Medina without a guide. I would say if this is your first time in Fes or if you have a language barrier with Berber or Arabic then I strongly recommend a guide.

We truly loved the Medina and it was due to the help of our guide. We were not particularly interested in shopping and were very concerned about having a guide lead us to shops and be over sold. But we spoke with Hassnae at the Ryad and she helped arrange a guide who mixed a cultural and shopping tour at our pace in and around the Medina. We were NOT pressured at all. And if there were any issues the guide immediately was there to help us thru any language barriers and negotiate.

Hassnae arranged for our guide, Aggedine. If you want the amazing experience we had in the Medina then I highly recommend you ask to book him.

My advice is to be very clear with Hassnae or Lahcen to get exactly the type of experience you want thru the Medina. They will pick the right guide for you.

We also had a Hamman with message while we stayed at the Ryad. They have their own on site. It was a great experience. Definitely not something we experience in the US. If you have the time, I recommend booking a Hammon.

We will definitely stay here when we are back in Fes. Thank you.

We stayed in 4 different cities while traveling through Morroco and Fes was our favorite, in large part because of our experience at Ryad Alya! The staff was amazing! It felt as if we were staying with friends or family. They were very helpful with setting things up and suggesting things to do. Every evening when we returned they would ask us what we did and how we enjoyed ourselves. Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly!

We had breakfast every morning on the rooftop terrace, which was lovely! Each day was a different yummy variation of pasties and jams. We did a Hammam/massage one day and did a cooking class another day - both of which were wonderful! The cooking class was especially enjoyable. We went shopping in the souks for ingredients, and then worked with the cooks to prepare 4 traditional Moroccan salads and a main course (oh, and mint tea too!). I recommend doing both if your schedule allows.

I can't recommend this place enough! We stayed for 3 days and 3 nights but wished that we would have planned more time here. Next time we go back to Fes we will definitely being staying at Ryad Alya and look forward to seeing everyone there again!
