Classy Hotel in DownTown Casablanca

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Mar 2018via mobile
Very chic hotel. A very nice hotel with a mini bar that's well stocked. Lovely view from my room. A buffet breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised when I ask for coffee at breakfast and a 500ml pot of coffee was brought. Clearly a place with class and close to so many attractions.

The best experience on our tour of Morocco was at the Barcelo Casablanca.... a little jewel in the center of the city.
The restaurant is intimate and elegant, the cuisine delicious. We loved the Fish Tajine, and returned on the last day just for this. It was our best culinary experience in Morocco. The bar is great to relax to watch sports on the comfortable leather couches.
The service that made this hotel so outstanding was ZAKARIA ALAMI. Our travel agent, Elite Travels of Morocco had made a total mess of our reservations, our bags did not arrive with us from New York, and we were miserable, especially as our Travel Agent abandoned us.
ZAKARIA ALAMI went out of his way to to uplift our first visit to Morocco and was so incredibly helpful in every way.
The Lioness from New York.

I booked it for my family of three (3 year old daughter) Just for the two days we stayed in Casa before we went to Marrakech for its location and that’s it for benefits! I paid 45euros for the option of airport picking up and twice replies to their request to confirm my flight details and time of arrival (through their very rigid and basic online system) never received confirmation of my request although the fees have been paid in full, surprise surprise there was no one in the airport to pick us up and had to encounter several roaming phone calls back and forth with the hotel to inquire if there will
Be someone picking us up and rather than taking my details and calling me back I had to keep calling them and of course needed to switch on my data roaming as well!! Just for them to tell me that they haven’t received my confirmation and that they don’t have it in their system I have paid for the pick up!! I had to arrange for a private transfer (which by the way is cheaper than theirs). Once I arrived I showed them the email confirmation and although they were apologetic and upgraded my room, but they still left it until the last minute to give me my money back although I kept on asking them to sort everyday ... twice!! The room was nice and clean but no facility to make coffee or tea and they don’t provide free water!! And had to ask them for a bed for my three year old although it was clearly again requested via the booking (which was directly with them)!!
In summary this hotel is good if you are in a business trip and looking for a good location, staff are trying to be helpful but chaos I think is still in the dna ...

I've never been so disappointed in a hotel; this hotel should be classified under motels.
After a wonderful trip around Morocco, in lovely Riads and hotels this was our last stop and such a disappointment.
Well first off there is NO bar.....which is fine, but the restaurant smelled of paint and absolutely wasn't somewhere you'd want to be eating, and even less having a drink after a long day. Biggest let disappointment.
Then there was no coffee maker in the room (which mom loves) and according to the reception, this is a standard thing around the Barceló hotel chain.
There is no gym; for fitness freaks like me....and the rooms are to small to workout there.
And as if that wasn't enough the shower is an open type shower, so all the water leaked all over the floor, which made it so slippery when getting out.
All in all I can say we were so disappointed in this hotel that I would NEVER stay at another Barceló hotel anywhere in the world.

Hotel Barcelo is a nice bussiness hotel perfect for solo travellers with limited time in the city. It is situated in a centeral area only 20 minutes walk from the old Medina. It is surrounded by restaurants snd cafes. Check in was super quick and staff were very friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a nice corner room. I did hear the street noises but was too tired to be bothered by that. The hotel in general is very clean and had free wifi. The only thing i did not appreciate is the one guy standing outside the hotel door. I guess he is the concierge. Everytime he stopped a taxi for me he charged the driver for a tip that i paid as part of the ride. I only knew by a coincident when a taxi driver checked with me first if i was ok paying a 25 derhams for a that I usually pay 10ride for. Otherwise, it is a lovely hotel.

All in all: a very good business hotel with great quality / price ratio
Good points: location, very comfortable bed and great shower
Not so good: the room service meal (club sandwich) I had was not good at all, but maybe it was an unlucky exception; no gym; some fixtures in the room were shoddy (light fixtures, notably); the sound proofing is not very good (you hear the street down below very loudly); slow elevator

Room tip: Ask for higher-up rooms
