We got the beef burrito here last month and it's still the best handheld burrito in Ames! Clean. Friendly staff. Family friendly. Street parking. Prices are ok. Marcydiner tantrum scale of 5/5-no screaming kids. And they are open really late and DELIVER!

You get a lot of food for the price, and it tastes good too! There are different flavors of tortillas, sour cream and salsas so you can step up the flavor and the heat. So many toppings too- way more than the chains offer. I would recommend the pork over the chicken, but really you can’t go wrong.

Delivery should not take this long for food already prepared and only requires assembly. Delivery was an hour and 45 minutes. When I called to check on the order I was told the delivery left 30 minutes ago so should be 10 minutes or so ..... he has several deliveries. Cold food and poor customer service. I have been a huge fan for years but poor customer service and increasingly long waits for delivery does not deserve customer loyalty.

You know the drill: choose a type of tortilla, a salad, or tacos. Choose your standard fillings (beans, cheese etc.) plus some extras (cilantro, lime etc.) Eat and enjoy!

A few places in Ames offer that sort of food, but what makes Fighting Burrito the best?

1. The options. For meat eaters, you have 3 options. I'll assume they're tasty, but I have no idea. For vegetarians, you can do a spicy "rizo" (soy-based sausage crumble), or just go with the beans and veggies. Then there are 2 kinds of rice, grilled veggies, 2 types of beans, 2 kinds of cheese, several kinds of salsas (try the jalapeno peach!), lettuce, cilantro, guacamole, at least 2 kinds of sour cream, lime, jalapenos, hot sauce...and I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two other possibilities.

2. The company. The owner of the store is very involved in making Ames and campustown an awesome, progressive place to be. The employees are super friendly. They use local ingredients when possible. They offer suggested burritos with names of famous people who changed the world for the better. It's just a fun place to get a quick, yummy meal.

3. The price. It's a huge amount of food for a very reasonable price. And sometimes, you'll encounter coupons and deals out there if you look for them. (Pro tip: Mondays 4-9 PM: kids 10 & under eat FREE with adult meal purchase! Dine-in only.)

4. The dessert. GIANT rice crispy bars. Whatever is in your head right now, these things are almost certainly bigger.

Look...when it comes down to it, this is a burrito/nachos/taco/salad. It's kind of simple, really. But why spend your money at a place that has no real connection to the community when you can support an awesome restaurant like this? Go. You'll enjoy it and will be happy.
