“Stunning little bay”
Review of Honokohau Bay

Honokohau Bay

We only viewed this beach from the cliffs above. It is definitely worth a stop to view on the drive around the north part of Maui.

There are so many wonderful nature scenes on Maui. We just made a very quick stop here on our way from Nakalele Blowhole to Honolua Bay. I didn't notice any sign posted on the highway to indicate this location per se, but it's on a map/GPS. There's a stand selling coconut juice. I think I saw a port-a-john, but it might be for fee.

I stopped at the Honokohau Bay as a whim during a drive along the Honapiilani Highway. It is not signposted well and I was almost worried that it was a private property. There is a space for maybe half a dozen cars and a shack selling some refreshments.

Honokohau Bay is relatively narrow with high cliffs surrounding it. As the waves come in, the water level rises dramatically and the sound reverberates off the cliffs. Both the sight and the sound was awesome, an incredible combination showing the raw power of nature. It was almost a spiritual experience - it's like seeing the Grand Canyon but with sound effects.

I would say that it was one of the most mesmerizing sight I experienced anywhere. Highly recommended and worthy of a special trip.

In between Honolua Bay and Nakalele Point, on the north west coast of Maui you will come across Honokohau Bay. It's not really signposted (like many other attractions on Maui), however there is a guy selling coconut water and occasionally there is a man selling wooden sculptures.
Definitely definitely stop here, the beach, the views and the scenery are beyond stunning. The bay is small, the cliffs rise up either side of the bay, making it very secluded and beach is covered in smooth stones and golden sand.
We were the only people here when we arrived and we sat on the beach just admiring everything for ages. It is one of the most stunning spots we have been to. Truly memorable.
