The Museum is an excellent venue to hold events for around 150 people. It was clean and the staff was excellent. The kitchen area was useful for the caterer to serve the guests. Excellent facilities.
A must see for those tourist that what to know about Augusta or people that live in Augusta and want to learn about where they live. Very good place to spend a few hours of fun.
My son-in-law and I visited the museum on the visit last summer. Both of us being from Kansas, it was very enlightening to learn some of Augusta history. The displays are well presented and offer some in-sight to history.
Husband, son, daughter-in-law, 4yr old and baby grandkids spent a wonderful afternoon learning the political, natural, and cultural history of this 2nd-oldest city in Georgia. They had a hidden elf for our 4-year old to find as he explored. There were trains to climb into, a streetcar, an old gas station, a longboat, an extensive military exhibit, a James Brown music section. My husband was enthralled with the large history of golf exhibits. It was stroller friendly for the baby. All-in-all a delightful afternoon.
This is a great museum of history ! We took our home school group of children here for a field trip this past spring. They really enjoyed it (especially the "scavenger hunts" that are provided by the museum staff. This was very educational for them and it was not expensive. They want to go back again to do more scavenger hunts and to play on the train and the trolley. They also enjoyed sitting outside the museum and watching the freight trains pass while we took a break.
The size of the building is deceiving, The Museum is very large and loaded with great artifacts of history in this area. Great historical photos and stories. The subjects cover the Native Americans to the wars and agriculture. There are great works of art and local inventions that made life easier for the locals. The James Brown Area is awesome!
The Museum is A must see when you are in Augusta!
