Myself and a friend evacuated last week from SC because of the approaching hurricane and decided to stay in Athens, GA. We were so lucky to find a room available at this hotel as it was parents weekend for the University of Georgia and the hotel appeared to be full.
I want to personally thank Maxwell, the hotel manager and all of his staff for being so kind, considerate and just overall the best. You made a stressful situation much easier to handle. Will definitely stay here again if we're ever in Athens again !

This is an older hotel, but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. An in room fridge is available which is super nice. The only problem was the ice machines on three floors did not have ice. That's ok, because the front desk was able to get ice from the kitchen - at 2am! Breakfast is included and is well worth it. My hotel neighbors were jealous! The neighborhood is just fine, I walked from the other Holiday Inn in mere minutes in the middle of the night and felt perfectly safe. Wifi was a little slow for downloading files, but ok for watching netflix. Parking is free / included. It is pet friendly - as noted on door hand tags outside those rooms. I would stay here again.

We stayed at this location on our way to a vacation in Florida. This was the perfect stopping point for us and we were fortunate to find such an amazing hotel. The room we stayed in had 2 Queen size beds PLUS a sleeper sofa, which is the ideal hotel situation for our large family and sometimes difficult to find. The hotel had been recently renovated (it wasn't very old to begin with), was impeccably clean, smelled clean and crisp, there were 2 TVs in our suite/room, a fridge, the breakfast was one of THE best hotel breakfasts we have ever had, the price was very reasonable and the staff were super friendly (definitely that southern hospitality). I highly, highly recommend staying here and I am very picky!

The hotel was located near downtown with alot to do in the area. We had a surprise party for family on saturday afternoon and then on saturday night everyone met at the hotel pool till it closed and then we had everyone in the lobby area for fun and games. The staff was very helpfull in recommending places to eat. The hotel was clean and quiet. I would definatley stay there again

The property is dated, and the location is a two-block walk up a deceptively steep hill to get to most of the downtown attractions. However, the property was clean, the staff was great, and the hotel was pet-friendly. The pet fee was reasonable. Maxwell was a rock-star on check-in, and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and dated, but there was a Kuerig machine in the room, which is becoming the standard for this brand. The hotel pods are so-so, so be sure and bring your own pods, and you'll be having Starbuck's for breakfast. There were enough outlets, barely, but a couple of USB ports at bedside were very welcome. The bathroom was microscopic, but clean and functional. The bathroom was old-fashioned with a bathtub and a Hookless shower curtain. The bathtub grab bar was on the wrong end. The HVAC in the room was fine, and kept the humidity at bay. The parking lot, around the pet area, needed a good leaf-blowing. The neighborhood was safe enough, but getting on the sketchy side. The breakfast was good, a notch above the usual. BTW, this was a family weekend, using points, but I am a road warrior, with about 250 hotel nights a year, so I know hotels. Bring a surge protector (I always travel with one) to protect your electronics and to make up for the chronic hotel outlet shortage. The pool was clean, the other guests were agreeable, and the water was perfect. I asked my wife if she wouldn't like a "nicer" hotel, and she said she would rather travel with her little pug dog (yes, the one in the stroller), than stay in a penthouse. The bed was good, and the linen was okay. What makes this hotel was the staff. Everyone from the manager to laundry and housekeeping did their best to make us feel at home and they succeeded.

Room Tip: First floor makes it easiest to get to the pool and parking. The elevator was slow.
