The owners have changed two weeks before we arrived. And there is a lot of work to do. We had a room with no electricity in the bathroom, no air conditionning, a useless fan and no way to charge our phones in the room. The pool wasn't clean. Even if the new owners seem to be nice, they say they would give us a discount for the inconvenience, but we paid the full price or almost (ridiculous discount if any). Maybe it will improve, for now I wpildn't recommand it

Hi Stephen, Im very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. There are indeed many things that we are working on, however. You booked two rooms, of which one was a dorm without aircon, the other room (the double that you booked) did have aircon, but you preferred to choose the triple room with no aircon next to the dorm.

When the hotel was built, there was not much need for everybody charging gadgets and we will add more sockets soon. Every room does already have at least one place to plug in.

Me, and everybody else who has stays here loves the swimming pool and we keep it very clean, Im not sure how you thought it was not. I think you are just finding more points to right down.

The one thing that you are indeed right about is the bathroom light. The light was bought in Italy and cannot be replaced here. We are trying to work out the problem and we gave you a 30% discount on both the rooms for the inconvenience!

The rooms, very simple, were not clean, neither the bathroom. We had a problem with the aircon system, so the room was tooooo hot at night. It doesn't worth that price level.
Food was so-so.
The beach is not enjoyable (amounts of plastic : it's a huge problem for all the Livingston area).
The main door was open when we arrived so anybody could enter.
Prices are too high in comparison with other hotels we experienced in the same location.

Good thing : the pool and the sweet garden (little pond)

Hello, thank you for your response. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time at Dos Arboles, but I agree with some of your comments. Most of all about the value for money. We have just bought the hotel of the people who owned it while you were there and we have lowered the prices significantly so that we now offer great value for money. Some rooms do not have their air conditioner working well, for which we now offer rooms with or without aircon at different prices to give guests the choice.

The beach indeed has much trash washing up from the various rivers that end in our bay, however I believe that this is a global problem and everybody should do their bit by decreasing the use of plastic. We avoid plastic where possible, initiate beach clean-ups with local communities and visitors and have our gallo-for-garbage project with our guests getting a beer on the house for every full bag of trash they clear of the beach. There is already a hugely noticeble difference!

I hope you will come back one day so that you can experience the difference.

I stayed here in mid-July 2017 and i can't say enough good things about it. It's located right on the beach with wonderful views from the patio as well as my room, which was an adorable bungalow with a private roof top deck.

The hosts are very friendly and attentive to any needs. The food was fantastic, with locally sourced ingredients prepared to order with love and care.

There's a pool on site, and an adjacent pool bar with hammocks perfect for an afternoon siesta. Downtown Livingston is walkable and provides access to other great restaurants and tours in the area. We took a trip down the Rio Dulce, and it was gorgeous! I can't recommend Dos Arboles enough!!

We passed 3 days in Dos Arboles and we enjoyed very much the warm welcome of Karen and John in their hotel. Great rooms, a lovely pool, a garden with geckos and cocos. Don't miss the Garifuna night! We would love to come back.
