“Wedding and some well deserved relaxation”
Reviewed 8 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We arrived at the villa to find that the on-line pictures did not do the house justice. It was beautiful and so well kept. Stan met us to welcome us, show us around and to give some great advice on the surrounding area. We had a few days to prepare for a beach wedding and were most impressed when Albert and Francesca (house keepers) were so helpful and were more than willing to pitch in and help with some of the preparations. The wedding went without a hitch (having our own private beach was really a dream come true for our daughter). Then some time for fun in the sun. The beach was incredible; Albert raked it every day and Francesca just quietly went about her housekeeping duties. We loved waking up every morning and walking out into that warm sea breeze. Stan would stop by and offer suggestions for eating or other sites, which almost always met our expectations. The house had some great extras: beach chairs, kayaks, snorkeling gear, etc. which we were welcome to use. It was so nice to be able to watch the kids play from the house, the shaded veranda or on the beach with them. Albert, and his 2 super friendly dogs, was always around so safety was never a concern. I would not hesitate to stay at the Villa Ranguana again.

“Christmas vacation”

Spent a relaxing Christmas Holiday week at Villa Ranguana (party of 9). The villa has a fantastic private beach and view of the ocean, with caretakers living next door. Housekeeping service was very good, with Stan and Mary (managers) providing welcome grocery shopping service upon arrival (dinner and breakfast), and helpful advice about local establishments and things to do. The villa is just far enough from town that, unless you are a strong walker, a car or a golf cart is a must to get around. Placencia is definitely worth a visit, with great places to eat. We liked the Tipsy Tuna for drinks and the nearby Mariposa (20 min walk) for great food. The villa is well furnished, and the kitchen has everything we needed to make any meal we chose to stay home for. We hired a local chef (recommended by Mary) to cook us several Belizean dinners and breakfasts (great for hassle-free meals without having to leave the villa). We felt very safe – the caretakers were walking the property regularly and their dogs (friendly to guests) announced any arrivals in classic dog fashion. We would definitely stay at Villa Ranguana again!

“Belize Getaway”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed at the villa recently with our extended family, that included both young kids and grandparents. The house was designed to afford each family their own private living quarters with plenty of communal space for hanging out and dining. The amenities and housekeeping was outstanding. It was lovely to sit out on the upstairs balcony, looking out at the lovely views with a good book and a rum punch! Would highly recommend this property - it is exactly as pictured.

“Family reunion and adventure holiday.”

We stayed at Villa Ranguana for 3 nights as part of a family reunion / adventure holiday. What a perfect place for a large multi-family gathering. We all had most comfortable beds, luxurious bathing facilities and loads of privacy. Not always common for a party of 10.

The caretakers next door were friendly and helpful, and the dog in residence was a big hit with the kids and helpfully barked at strangers.

We only ate breakfasts at the villa as there were so many fantastic restaurants close by. But the kitchen seemed well-equipped. It was even equipped with fresh mangoes from the trees in the yard. Fantastic!

Taking advantage of the little lending library, we spent many relaxing hours on the covered patio chairs or hammocks, reading and enjoying the cool ocean breezes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back again in a heartbeat.

“Paradise”
Reviewed 21 December 2012 for a stay in December 2012

While there is no need to leave this lovely property, there are so many physical, intelectual, cultural, and exciting things to do - it is difficult to know where to begin. The property is a paradise - from large rooms for cooking, eating, game playing and sleeping to expansive decks for relaxing and watching the sea or reading a book. The open air shower in the master is wonderful. Swimming, snorkeling, kyaking and sailing from your beach is unparralelled.

The caretakers, Ernesto and Sonya are the hardest working, most kind people you could ever meet - they are a tour onto themselves. Interested in Belize history, things to do, Mayan culture? They are a one stop, on site shop for anything and everything. They took us fishing, snorkeling, made dinner (Barracuda, rice and beans, fresh coconuts with rum ;-) ).

Sheeba - the owner's dog was a delight.

I can say that this is the first trip to Central America where I would change nothing - the best ever.
