We spent Christmas at Island Magic Beach Resort, while learning to scuba dive. It was a wonderful experience. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was very courteous and helpful, and the owner Alina is delightful. There for the holidays with her family, she still took time to welcome us and help us plan our accommodations and activities after we left Caye Caulker. But the Magic is the pool. We spent hours there relaxing, reading and playing in the water with our 10 year old son (who had a fantastic time playing with Alina's family). If we return to Caye Caulker, we will definitely stay at Island Magic!

Room Tip: Choose a poolside room for better view, but even the island facing rooms were quiet and comfortable.

What a wonderful, quiet way to spend two weeks. Bright sunshine, relaxation, good food in tiny food shops, affordable accommodations. The "Island Magic" lodging was one of the best on the key. Airconditioned rooms directly on the ocean, a magnificent swimming pool and adjacent tiki bar ...easy access for island hopping at nearby boat dock. Who could want anyting more?

Room Tip: Do not accept an island view room.

We just returned from our third vacation on Caye Caulker. This time we stayed at Island Magic Beach Resort and it was by far our best experience. The hotel is very clean, comfortable, in a great location with superb amenities. The pool is beautiful with a bar on the ocean side. Management is lovely and has an item you may need. I highly recommend it. As I highly as i would recommend a vacation on Caye Caulker.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars.

Pros:
Compared to the other hotels/inns on Caye Caulker: Good hotel, big and clean rooms
air conditioning
Large pool

Cons:
On our last day, an underwater camera goes missing (was left on the bed)... We didn't care about the camera as much as the pictures that were on it. 3 days of diving including the Blue Hole - all gone. Staff was not that accommodating in trying to relocate the camera. There was no way it was lost... I believe it was stolen. :(
No swimming on the beach as there were lots of sea grass and made it difficult to get into the water
TONS of mosquitoes EVERYWHERE. If you get in the pool - they ate you alive
Everyone (group of 18) got stomach sick while on the island. We always only drank bottled water - the only tap water we used was to take a shower and brush our teeth... might have been from the hotel - but maybe not...

I do not recommend Caye Caulker in general... unless you love diving and snorkeling. That was truly spectacular: the amount of fish, rays, SHARKS and even a gigantic sea turtle who followed us around for about 20 minutes is amazing. The water is crystal clear, warm but very choppy. Even the people who do not normally get seasick got sick. I took seasickness pills and was ok.

Room Tip: rooms facing the pool are nicer since you get view and breeze.
