A great place for a beginning snorkel person or advanced. Wonderful schools of fish, the occasional shark, manatee. The water the perfect temperature. Great that it was patroled and exceptionally clean.

Never thought I'd swim with 15' sharks, without becoming their lunch! These nurse sharks look intimidating up close, but do not eat meat, like their cousins do.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve is an amazing coral reef Marine Reserve off Ambergris Caye Belize. There is a tremendous amount of life here ranging from nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, fish and beautiful coral formations. I highly recommend coming.

Hol Chan offers a snorkeling experience for travelers who are not certified scuba divers. If certified, certainly skip it for the Blue Hole. However, as a snorkeler, it was a perfect place to see great coral, a bunch of sting rays, a Moray Eel, and fish. The water is crisp clear allowing for great clarity. If you enjoy seeing the underworld, put this on your list!

The amount of amount and variety of marine life was wonderful. Jacks, snapper, morey, rays and puffer and the occasional nurse shark. It was also just fun watching the wildlife of the human variety who had obviously never been in an area that concentrated react to all of it. Very fun!

If you are looking for marine life and the “bigs” this is the best dive in Ambergris Caye. Nurse Sharks, Stingrays, Moray Eels, Spotted Eels, and my favorite Eagle Rays. We saw 3 Eagle rays on one dive and max bottom depth is only 25 feet!
