There's no fridge, microwave, clock or phone in the room, but the price is reasonable for a place so close to the train. There are a few caveats to consider, such as a lack of good restaurants in town; unreliable WiFi during evening hours; poor picture quality on the 20 or so available TV channels; and cell service reported as sporadic although Verizon provided me with a strong signal at the motel.

BTW, the view from the motel may be worth thr price of admission.

Every thing except the shower, was fair. The shower ceiling has mold penetrating the paint from behind the top coat of paint. Sheet rock paper ripped and falling down. Not good upkeep on the bathroom facilities, for many years.

Don't set your sights too high and you won't be disappointed. The rooms are clean and the price is good. The breakfast is sparse, but if you're taking the train you want to save room for the lunch stop. There is no phone and the office closes at 10 pm. If you know before you go it is an OK place to stay.

Room Tip: Try not to have long term guests living above your room. (little dog running all night til 10:30)

The outside of the hotel is rather off putting but the room was clean, the wifi worked, cell service is adequate, and the bed was comfortable.

The biggest issue is the restroom. It's very small and not well laid out.

Be careful if you're using GPS. Mine told me I had arrived when I was five miles away and on the other side of town.

We’ve stayed in worse places but we were hard pressed to remember them. Soiled carpeting, a door that would only close when slammed, and see-through levolor drapes were among the low-lights. A television that probably dated from the 1980s and a bed that was as hard as the floor added to a difficult stay. The “pets welcome” sign in the front office was an indicator that we weren’t at a Hilton.

The continental breakfast was weak at best. The discarded Dolly Madison box in the trash and the no-two-alike coffee cups spoke volumes.

If you are planning to catch the early morning bus to Chama for the Cumbres & Toltec railroad trip your best bet is to stay in Alamosa and drive down to Antonito. Stay at this place at your own risk.
