If you had a choice between this hotel and any other hotel, choose this one! My experience definitely exceeded my expectations. Right from the start, reserving a room was quick and easy. Checking in and checking out was done with ease. The view from the hotel was absolutely beautiful and the location is right where all the shops and restaurants are. The continental breakfast and cookies and milk at night were such a comforting factor (no need to grab breakfast in the morning or dessert after dinner!) My friend and I took the "More for Less" deal, which was just paying for the full amount of a room for 1 night, and each additional night was $75. Here is a list of some perks: DVD collection, 100% cleanliness, luggage storage (Service even after checking out? AMAZING. No need to carry around our luggage before our departure), fireplace, air conditioning, functional lobby to lounge around, availability of beach towels.
This hotel is THE perfect place to stay at in Catalina Island. I will definitely be back if I ever get the chance to visit Avalon again!

Room Tip: Ocean View Suite is the only room w/ a view. Any other room just has a paneled window to the lobby. But you can always enjoy the view of the beach by the seats near the front desk.

Spent 2 nights here last week. Our first trip to Catalina. Service and location were wonderful. Walking distance to everything. Stayed with my husband and 8 year old. Was skeptical because it is a small 14 room hotel and we usually stay at large resort. My kid loved the cookies and milk at night and the continental breakfast was better than I expected. Hot cider was available all day long. Only complaint, is that there was no window looking directly to the outside. However, we didn't miss not having a window to the outside much as we took advantage of sitting in the front hall directly in front of the windows with ocean/harbor view. There were windows looking into courtyard but had to keep the blinds closed since that is the hallway. We were in room 103 a King suite right by the front desk. We would definitely stay here again! Would try to book one of the ocean view suites. Hotel was a little hard to find at first as there was construction in a store front in front of the hotel stairway. Head up the stairs past Steve's restaurant and you are in the right place.

Booked this property by sheer luck, looking for a package deal from Dana Point on the ferry. Hotel took care of the package booking, and very smooth. A little extra time at one hour and twenty minutes from Dana Point, vs. Long Beach, and a couple of bucks, but worth it. Arrive early to ferry as you are guided a distance away and then tote your luggage. Back to this great place. The room we were quoted on the phone was not the room we received. Nonetheless, it was a very nice room, very clean, with fireplace and minibar and wonderful tiled shower area. Room dimmer switches added ambience. The cookies served warm in the evening with milk an added homey touch. The breakfast assortment was plentiful and well tended. You can look out over the ocean as you eat. Staff helpful. One feature that was really welcomed was that the luggage can be stored after checkout until the ferry leaves later in the day. You do have to walk up 2 flights, and there was construction on the first floor level that began at 8 am. A nice steakhouse is right below on the second floor. One feature that we really wanted was a fax, and both this property and the sister property in Avalon did not have a working fax the day we needed it. After a wild goose chase all over town, Leo's Drugstore did the faxing, which worked out well. Right down the street. Who knew? Rebecca and Sarah very helpful, and all staff very professional that we dealt with over course of 2 days stay. The ocean suites looked excellent and the views and location could not be beat. I would stay again at this property in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: look online and get a good representation of the rooms, and make sure the room rate you are quoted is the room you get

We just spent our 25th anniversary in a their waterfront suite #102. The location is ideal, directly on Avalon bay and the suite was exceptional. Private balcony, big soaking tub, great bed, fireplace, huge windows, binoculars - nothing is overlooked. They even had a bottle of champagne and balloons waiting in the room for our arrival with a note of congratulations and the room was ready for us at 11am. We ate at the RESTURANT directly below - great meal and had the perfect anniversary experience. Also, it was surprisingly quiet in the morning even though we were on the main drag. If you have a special occasion, this is the place to go!!

I agree with the next three reviews: lovely facility, amazingly clean, friendly service, convenient location and it's wonderful to enjoy the ocean view while eating the continental breakfast. I thought "ugh, third floor" but it's actually brilliant because the plant filled corridor is so airy you're semi-outdoors and being on the top floor affords fabulous views of the harbor and activity on the main street. There's a beautiful aquarium in the lobby and friendly touches throughout. I expect we'll return.
