We've been going to Awful Annie's for an awfully long time, back into the 1980's with the original crew in the Old Town Auburn location. Now it's moved over to the old Lou LaBonte's location alongside the I-80 freeway into a location that probably ten times larger than Old Town. This is very good for hungry people because there's lots more tables, but the new location has also brought much larger crowds, especially on weekends. Expect to wait on Saturdays or Sundays, it's worth it. They provide fresh coffee near the front door while you wait on indoor or outdoor seatings.

There's a small patio where you can be served in the warmer months, inside has been completely remodeled in the country kitchen style of the old location. The menu has not changed, and it doesn't need to. We usually make up our own omelette, which is our own choices of ingredients rather than one of the menu specified, and we have the kitchen butter the bagels for us rather than serve them dry with hard butter patties in the little foil packs. After more than 30 years, Awful Annie's is still our favorite breakfast place, and well worth the 25 minutes we have to drive to reach it. Great food, great service, great ambiance! Liz is an angel. It's the perfect place for breakfast or lunch.

We were greeted and asked if we wanted Annie’s tea. Delicious and plenty of refills. Our waitress was very nice. My friend had the salad and I had the Mexican meatball soup. Delicious. Our sandwiches were brought and mine was missing the avocado. A server came by and quickly with an apology remedied the problem. Very large and delicious. Prices were reasonable and the ambiance was very pleasant. We will be back. A side note-Aweful Annie’s has their own cookbook for sale.
