Easy to access with beautiful trails and just amazing old trees. And it is dog friendly (but keep your pooch on leash).

Arcata embodies everything great about California, and this wonderfully preserved patch of Redwoods is a big part of that for me anytime I'm in the area. I love taking my dog through the trails, and we usually encounter other friendly dogs(and humans) along the way. If you want to immerse yourself in nature, but don't feel like getting too far from civilization come check this place out.

We hiked in the area and really enjoyed the old trees and peacefulness of the area. There were horses, bikes and other hikers but it was not disturbing. Truly a jewel of Arcata.

This park is beautiful and peaceful. Many trails to choose from and connected to Redwood park which has a great playground for the kids.

We spent several hours walking the trails here. What a beautiful park! The big trees, lush ferns, skunk cabbages, and mosses make it feel ancient, and my husband said that he kept expecting to see a brontosaurus munching on leaves whenever we turned the next corner. The park is well maintained and dog friendly. We loved it!
