My mother once told me, "When traveling, never go into a restaurant called 'Mom's" and has 20 motorcycles out front!" But when you find tht you're the only "Round-Eyes" in the place, you know that you're going to get GREAT food. LOL. If you like/love Dim Sum, this is the place to go in Alhambra. They have their own parking lot and one across the street. The Hostess is dressed in contemporary Chinese attire and the server are dressed in black, everything is set up for the visual effect on your senses. When the food arrives, it is beautiful - TAKE PICTURES but eat everything you see. You won't regret it.

Dim sum was good but kinda pricey. The tea was just ok - mashed up leaves and no real flavor. Instead of carts, you order from a menu. And the menu has photos but for the non-asians, limited descriptions. Was really excited to see two Shanghai style offerings - soup dumplings and pan fried pork buns. Both were not great - the dumplings got hard in the tins and some lacked juice, and the pork buns were not pan fried like they do in Shanghai and were gummy, had little filling and no soup. Stick to the regular fare. I would try the shared dishes if I go back.

This restaurant has been around a while, years ago known as Casa de Oriente. It is a popular dim sum restaurant with pleasant surroundings and a fairly large dining room. The menu on the table has photgraphs to help the dim sum novice make their way through the numerous offerings. Even those familiar with dim sum may require a visual to accompany the written descriptions.
The "morsels" are quite large, two bite sized and priced at about a dollar a piece. Standards like ha gow, (shrimp dumpling)
siu mai (pork and shrimp wrapped in a wonton skin) are priced in the $4.00-$5.00/plate range. There are four pieces to the serving. Dim sum is not an inexpensive lunch for hearty eaters or for those used to inexpensive Chinese food. Often, we order a plate of chow mein or chow fun as a "filler upper". Some varieties of dim sum circulate the room w/ servers and one can opt in or out.
It is best to arrive on the early side for a full choice of options.

I made the mistake of coming here being very casually dressed. I was on the road and was looking for a quick Chinese restaurant. Walking in I noticed all the wait staff were very well dressed, so I was embarassed since I wasn't. The food is very good although it is more upscale than many Chinese restaurants so prices are a bit higher, although they had a number of reasonably priced specials.

Had their dim sum, it was okay, not as good as Sea Harbor in Rosemead. The servers were nowhere to be found when we needed our tea refilled and when we wanted the check.
