I'm a huge fan of the Jefferson. It has been too long since my stay, but it continues to represent the finest traditions of hospitality and service. Our stay was fantastic, and I'll be thrilled to stay there again.

This used to be my favourite Washington hotel, it has alas lost its sparkle and not kept up with the times.
The excellent concierge is still here, he is brilliant in every way.
The hotel manager is good and knows the issues.
The hotel GM is absent, I was assured he exists.
Staff are nice, some more professional than others.
I will not be going back there in a hurry.
Hopefully the owner will take notice, and see that other hotels have moved on and new entrants are here, it needs to modernise and professionalise its offering. The staff are keen though need direction.

You'll be blown away by a boutique and historic hotel offering so much opulence. With a five star restaurant on the premises, you must try the chefs menu. There are also custom Jefferson Hotel games to enjoy the hotel and/or enjoy the city. The city does not have a skyline, but request a room with a decent city view, and they'll deliver. (We got a beautiful view of the Washington Monument.) A hop, skip, and jump from the White House, you'll want to enjoy everything this city has to offer.
Tips:
1 - Although the hotel offers an 'on demand, first-come-first-served car, don't worry about transportation. Metro stops are everywhere, but taxis are very inexpensive for a city this size. (If you get one of the red ones, these are newer and cleaner.)
2 - The Newseum is fantastic, and the concierge gave us coupons. We thought we'd be there an hour and we were there over 3 -- great kids activities.
3 - Bring comfy walking shoes! This is a city to be explored on foot.
4 - If you're a chamomile fan, this hotel has one of the best I've had. (I'm not importing it from the UK.)
5 - Although their two restaurants are collocated, they are totally different experiences. Try them both!

This hotel is beautiful, and located about a half mile from the White House. It's in an area with several other high end hotels. I tried this one because of it's reviews on tripadvisor. As usual, the reviews were accurate and the hotel deserves it's ranking. First, when I checked in, the immediately told me I'd been upgraded to a suite. Great start. Then, I got to my room, and since I'd been traveling all day, decided I needed to take a shower before I went to dinner. The room was beautiful, large, and very classically decorated. The shower was the best I've ever had at any hotel anywhere. Period. It's one of those that pumps out a tremendous amount of water--kind of like a fire hydrant. Absolutely wonderful. The bed was great and I have no complaints about the room at all. Great room. The restaurant was also very good. For lunch I had a salad that was exactly like a salad should be--healthy, delicious and filling so I don't feel hungry in an hour. The breakfast was even better. They had homemade chicken sausage. Wonderful. With each meal, they'd bring their house made breads which we also awesome. This hotel is great. The only bad part was the guys in the bar butchering Billy Joel's Piano Man. And that was actually kind of funny. Stay here. I will.
