There is construction outside across the street, and starting at 6 am I was awakened to men shouting, crashing metal, the beep-beep-beep of large equipment backing up. Ok, that's not their fault, but the fact that I could hear the neighbor in the next room coughing through the wall all night means there are noise issues at this hotel. Leaving that aside, the room is large and the bathroom is well appointed. The wifi is very wobbly, and I kept falling off line and having to reconnect. Aggravating. Not the typical Hilton experience. Keep looking.

We recently stayed here as a couple. The hotel sits in a nice central location only a couple blocks up from the White House, close to the National Mall and most major D.C. tourist attractions. The D.C. Convention Center, Chinatown and Verizon Center are also all nearby. Hilton offers valet-only service for parking but we parked at a nearby garage at a savings of $80 over two days.

Our junior suite was a bit dated looking, smaller than expected and the view was about as bad as it gets. There was a small wet bar area with a sink and coffee maker but no mini-fridge. The parlor had a sleeper sofa and the main bedroom had a king sized bed. The suite is one large sectional room rather than two separate rooms, so there is no door nor privacy between the parlor and the bedroom. Both the parlor and bedroom had 42" LED televisions. There was a safe in the closet by the entrance.

The bathroom has separate vanity and bathing areas. The vanity area was fine but our tub had a nasty looking old plug dangling from the drain which didn't appear to serve any function because the drain worked fine with the old drain plug just dangling there. We also had what appeared to be mildew and/or possibly mold along the caulking of tub.

We had a nice restful sleep the first night but the second night we were awakened by a strong burning odor that smelled like burning oil. The AC was on but not running. I turned the AC system off completely to try and get rid of the odor. We didn't smell anything the following morning and we were checking out that day anyhow, so we didn't worry about it. We did however smell a strong scent of cigarette smoke down near the elevators. it was pretty obvious someone completely ignored the fact that it was a smoke-free hotel. We then headed downstairs and had breakfast in the Hotel's North Gate Grill. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the service was top notch.

Overall, we had an enjoyable time at the Capital Hilton. The size of the suite and exterior view weren't really issues that affected our stay. The bathroom was a little more disappointing and harder to ignore but it wasn't bad enough to prevent us from staying here again in the future. The overall hotel seems clean and well maintained. The rates and packages are also very competitively priced compared to surrounding hotels. Most importantly, we had a good time during our stay. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

The hotel is ideally situated to tour the Washington ataractions as it is in walking distance of the White House and the other areas. The hotel is big and had multiple areas for conferences too. One minor issue was taken care of profesionally by the management which is always a sign of good service.

Hilton at K/16 is nice and with a great location for all the sights. Just a few bloks fra WH and the Mall.
Check-in and out went fast. Breakfastbuffet is great. Lot's of things to choose between. We had a nice stay, but still don't understand the aircon need!
