Extremely busy which detracted from what I remember from a previous visit was a pleasant day. Best bit was the ride on the circular buss for 50'cents!

Walked the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. Very moving to do this with so many other people in such a beautiful place.

Have lived in the area on and off since 1974 and this was my first visit. Went with a Knights of Volumbus group, including mass. Very pretty place, very meditative. plan to take visitors next time.

If you want to go to the Holy Land without leaving the US, this is the place to go. Peter came a wonderful tour and answered all of our questions.

You know those old plaster casts that museums used to display because visitors would never have a chance to see the original and photographs hadn't been invented? This is a lovely church and garden that feels like the same principal applied to traditional pilgrimage sites. The lower level of the church is only possible to visit on a guided tour, which leans religious rather than touristy and is particularly historically accurate. It's worth seeing if you live in the DC area and have a car because it is really is a pretty church but it's not what I'd recommend for a visitor to the area with limited time.

On a practical note, plenty of parking, clean restrooms, vending machine with water. Also, the lower floor of the church and the underground sites in the garden were much cooler than the outside air.
