We had a wine tasting here with high expectations and were a bit disappointed. The winery itself is beautiful, but we walked in and it was absolutely packed full. We managed to get a tasting started pretty quickly and the chap who went through the tasting with us was very good. The wines though were pretty average and some were not from the Waiheke vines. It was a better experience than we had at some of the other more famous wineries on the island but we enjoyed other wineries on the island more.

As a group of four adults, we had lunch at Tantalus Winery and tried the wines too. The vineyard also encompasses a brewery and one of the party had a beer tasting with lunch, instead of wine. We tried entrees, as the dishes were pretty pricy. The chef brought us a free starter of pork crackling which was interesting. The entrees were superbly presented and very tasty. Wines were excellent. The gardens just outside the dining area are superb and colourful - worth a visit!

The beer was better. I really enjoyed this vineyard but i prefered the beer tasting to the wine....it has very nice outside seating... i would certainly reccomend it...

Celebrated a birthday lunch here over Easter weekend. Lovely relaxed and stunning setting... one of the best in Waiheke. Overall found the service slow (allowing for a busy Easter weekend) but some basics were overlooked despite many requests such as water and missing cutlery. Food was nice and presented well although I’m not personally not a fan of meals served on the edge of the plate.
All in all it was an enjoyable experience but there is room for improvement to make it a 5-star experience!

With so many wineries to try Tantalus is my new favourite.
Highly recommend the wine tasting which we tried under the beautiful upstairs ligjtong fixtures.
We sampled both wine menu types rather than the beer tasting which is a cool option.
The food was amazing, we definitely ordered too much and ate it all with the perfect amount of dessert.
The view and garden area is gorgeous, especially love the wee games to play with in the sunshine.

Thank Emma P
