Ended up in Akaroa for an evening with friends - looking for somewhere for dinner.

The Trading Rooms Restaurant menu looked inviting so in we go.

A great selection of food with a seafood focus. Three of us went for two entree options of seafood chowder and spiced risotto balls.

The size of both portions were bordering on mains sizes and both meals real tasty.

A lovely quiet decor overlooking Akaroa harbour accompanied by good service and great meal result in an enjoyable dining experience.

We have come to Akaroa on a cruise ship and have found the most delightful place to have lunch. The seafood platter for 2 is a must if you are a devotee of beautiful fresh seafood. Spiced pan fried fish, green lipped mussels, scallops, prawns and an exquisite piece of smoked salmon. Accompanying this was a light salad and delicious seeded bread drizzled with balsamic. The best thing about it was that there was not a chip in sight. Highly recommend this venue.

Simple coffee with options through to an ale or wine or stay for a meal, plenty on offer. Outside al fresco with a view of all that is going on at harbourfront.
A great meeting place & especially popular with travellers.

We had dinner here on a wet March evening and received polite and attentive service throughout. The traditionally furnished interior (some may say old fashioned) had spaciously placed tables. We ordered mains of fish and chips and smoked chicken tagliatelle from the limited menu. The food was good and the bill came to NZ$75 with one drink each.

Hi GKTravellers,

Thank you for your comments. This building used to be the first General Store in Akaroa and yes it is very traditional that made our restaurant unique and romantic place to sit down for a dinner meal. Our front team are well-trained when it comes to customer servicing, thank you for taking notice of it.

We hope that you truly enjoyed your meals and your time here in our place. I believe that $75.00 spent for your foods and drinks are all worth it.

Kind regards,

Ailah

Awesome lunch, great service and spectacular views. Their seafood chowder, the best I’ve had on our South Island trip. My husband had fish and chips, which was equally delicious.
